Discharging batteries

I've been reading up on AVP mods and i'm looking into getting one. However, the only thing i cannot find an answer for is how do you know when your battery is discharged/over-discharged?

I've been seeing things about a multi-meter. Do i need one if i'm going to be using a subox nano or is it built in where it won't fire below the min. threshold?

What kind of mod? Those with variable watts and such TELL you your remaining battery voltage, so are you asking about a "mechanical"?
If so, what happens is that you realize after some time that the thing is vaping 'weak" - and you change out your battery.
It CAN be handy to use a multimeter, to learn what voltage you're at - and it can also be used to check the resistance of an atomizer which is IMPORTANT when using a mech. But that can also be done with an "ohm meter" that you screw your atomizer on-to. Those are like $10-$15.

Or you might get a charger that tells you the battery voltage - I have an XTAR that does that, and I rarely use my multimeter now. When I do, it's just curiosity - "Hmmm - I wonder how low my battery is?".

I usually find I am pulling out a battery for a fresh one when it's down to something like 3.7, sometimes sooner. You can tell...

Sorry, i edited my post to put in the mod i was looking to get. The Subox Nano. I was going to get the Efest LUC S2 2 bay charger. Can you just pop the battery in the charger to read the voltage as well?

I'm assuming the volts on the Nano screen is the battery volts, right?

Edit: oops, nope, not right! I forgot there was a battery meter to tell me.

Oh yeah - the Subox will tell you the voltage of your battery. And I think it's recommended that you charge it when it gets to something like 3.5. NO HARM from charging early - in fact frequent, partial recharging actually is easier on the battery.

That's a cool looking little package - is it the new Subox kit with a KBox and Subtank Nano?

So yes - it'll stop firing when too low, but you probably don't want to run it all the way down all the time. You're probably going to have a couple batteries, right? Swap it out when it's low at all!
Me, I always pop in a fresh battery when I'm leaving the house, so I don't have to worry about it all day.

I generally swap my batteries around 25% left on the screen indicator. It seems below that point the Mods struggle to keep the vape balanced.
This also depends on load. A Low ohm coil causes more draw than a higher ohm coil.
Never had a battery issue using regulated Mods.

As has been said already, the mod will shut you down before the battery gets too low. I would still have a DMM though, so I could check battery voltage off the charger and make sure the charger is not charging over 4.2V, but it's not a requirement. They are pretty cheap though, you can get one for $10-$15 bucks on Amazon.
