Disposable 510s - 501 or 901 carts? Flavor opinions?

Heyo. Looks like there are some positive reviews on these, and I'm thinking of tossing a 'few' in my next big order (gifts, in-the-car emergency spares, find out if the 'biggerness' of the 510 means anything compared to my m40x love)... And I'm craving some higher-nic RY3, so need to make that order worthwhile. :)

Big question: Does the advice to use 901 carts and skip 510 carts ( specifically this post in http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-510-disposable-review-hoog-9.html#post966584 ) apply to the particular ones in stock?

Related question: What's the outlook re: 'not-disposable' auto 510 batteries being in stock in the future? I'm a little leery about the whole 'hey, you get a bunch of chargers you won't want to get rid of, but if you stick the more-common manual batteries into them you might burn the house down or end up with molten lithium in your lap' aspect if I gift them to the less-electronically-talented.

Also, request-for-comment re: people's subjective opinion of the menthol prefills on those... 'Minty,' 'menthol-y,' or 'other?' The friends I'm thinking of are Newport full-flavor types.

Edit: Argh, thread title should be '510 or 901 carts' of course. Fixed the one place I did that in the post.

901 carts are pretty much a "must have" to use the disposable 510 atty for any length of time. The atty tube is a hair bigger than a regular 510 and the 510 carts end up being very loose in a short time (they end up being loose on a regular 510 as well, just not as quick). The 901 carts fit just a little bit tighter which will prevent leaking.

I haven't tried the menthol version of the disposables but I'm not very fond of the tobacco flavored ones.

The disposables are IMO the BEST way to see if you'll like a 510. A friend of mine is still using one that I gave him in December. I have since given him another full disposable and a few extra batteries but that original is still going strong and vaping like a beast!

I received my first 510 ever Thursday night. It is the Q brand disposable. I tried it with the supplied 16mg carts. They were way to lite for me. Drained and refilled using blue foam and 30mg menthol. Much better.

This thing kicks out some vapor but has less taste/TH than my 401.

I was just wondering how this Q disposable 510 compares to the Joye 510 as far as Vapor/Taste/Throat hit go?

The battery life between charges on this unit is every bit as good as my EVO 401.

Good to have it confirmed, I'll definitely lean that way then. Does that mean they don't so much fit a 'real' 510 until they're worn down? Just curious what to expect.

(Hey, for that matter, is there anything significantly different between those two cartridges other than subtle variations in diameter and shape? Like, anything I should know about the inner portions?)

Yeah, I've got a combination of platter of wondering how the menthol tastes to Newport fans, and wondering if it's strong enough to permanently taint everything it touches (plastic of the carts etc) or... well, the only mint I've tried is the Dekang-type Spearmint from Shawn here, and that's pretty nice, I wouldn't go mixing incompatible flavors into the same unwashed filler, but it's not like it would cling the way real cigarette 'menthol' does. (Sponge-mop with ammonia to get that off your walls, kids... alternating with some borax in hot water, maybe. Otherwise it comes right back through the primer.)

They are very close IMO. The Joye 510's can run a little hotter, quicker, so the Vapor, taste and TH are slightly better to me. I've tried the knock off slb 510 atty's as well and I feel that the disposable atty is closer in performance to the Joye.

They fit a Joye 510 VERY snugly. It takes some pressure to get them all the way into the atty. I use them exclusively on My Joye 510. They seem to wick better with the stock filler than the 510 carts. Probably due to the shape of the cart (more filler at the end). I still mod them with blue foam because I like to have a completely empty cart when I refill.

I must have missed that advice about the 901 carts, but when I read it here last night I tried it and by gosh, it DOES stop the leakage altogether. I'm a huge fan of the disposable 510s and the leakage is one of only two things I find wrong with them (the other is the occasional harsh burning atomizer taste, but that can be fixed by direct dripping.) So with the 901 carts that knocks out one of the problems.

Has anyone expreienced problems with these just not vaping? I just ordered a 5 pack. I've tried 2 so far and they just won't vape. I drag on it and the battery comes on for like half a second and goes off. I get a tiny bit of vapor, but that's it.

I've tried blowing on the battery end and it produces constant vapor no problem. But even if I inhale as hard as I possibly can with it assembled, I still only get like half a second of vapor.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

Let me ask you a stupid question -- don't take offense.. but did you actually charge the battery fully? What you describe sounds exactly like a disposable 510 battery that has reached the end of its charge cycle. You will get a very small hit (if any) and get the blinking LED.

Throw it on the charger for a couple hours and see how things go. I've had disposable 510 batteries last for quite a long time (longer than advertised), as have numerous others.

Also, the LED doesn't blink. I just get the half second hit and then nothing. If I keep drawing, after about 3 seconds I get another half second hit.

I've tried everything I can think of.

If I go puff, puff, puff. I get lots of short little hits in a row, but who vapes like that? Blowing on either end of the battery gets a steady light. Blowing on the LED end gives a steady vapor stream. I tried dripping on the atomizer and hitting with the dummy cart, same thing, half second hits. Even tried dripping and drawing without a cart. Same thing.

IDK but at this point I'm frustrated.

I ordered these to have a couple of emergency spares but mainly to give 3 away to friends who are curious about vaping. I rave about it and have been off analogs for almost a year now. I can't give them these though. They'd think I was smoking something else or had just lost my freaking mind.

Interesting, not quite sure what would be going on then.. I've used a couple disposable kits without issues. I have a couple newer units at home that are unopened, perhaps I should try them out.

Obviously they arrived to you sealed, so it's not like Shawn did anything to them... other people have had success, I guess its possible to have received a bad batch. Chinese QA isn't exactly known to be that good. :)

It does seem like its related to the atomizer, though.. does the atomizer work as intended on a different 510 battery?
