:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
Im so confused. ALOT of people here talk about how much they love their 501. I see there are 901s. I have several questions and need help to purchase my ecig (very frustrated).
1. Is the 501 or 901 a model of a mfg or an mfg name?
(Like Joye 501, is there other brands named 501, what does it mean)
2. I keep reading about 3 to 6 volts and it sounds to me like I probably need to get a 5volt or higher, but all the ecigs out there are 3volts. Where are all the higher volt models?
(Like the prodigy v2, it states it is rated 3volt, but it also states voltage under load is roughly 4.5 to 5.25v, WTF) the Prodigy also states adapter is 510,. 801, ACE/901, WTF, here we go with question 1).
3. I have to say I like Leafords reviews and the reasons why he chose to work for vapor4life.com, so Im wondering if vapor king is ideal.

Sorry, I'm not mad, just a little frustrated due to hours of research and cant seem to find answers. I smoke Marlboros and I dont care about flavor, just want the closest thing to the same as a marlboro as far as TH and smoke/vapor. So I guess this is what Im looking for:
1. Manual push button
2. A carry charger (I want to charge a box/cig box over night and place my cig in it to charge the cig on the go, Ive seen some of these around)
3. 5v or more
4. ecig with lots of vapor (i guess this is why I want a manual switch)
5. Affordable (I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars to find out it is not for me or I dont like the brand). I tried a 15.00 disposable kit and I didnt like it, it hard very little TH and barely any vapor.

I would greatly appreciate any help and ideas or additional info that is helpful.

I'll take a shot here....

1. The 501/901/KR808D/etc are typically used to refer to a given Model of ecig; There are at least 2 manufacturers of every model I've seen so far, with the exception of "mods".

2. The higher voltages are achieved using 'battery mods', which are (typically handmade) devices using fairly common off-the-shelf batteries in various combinations to achieve higher voltage and longer runtime between charges.

3. I love my Vapor King, and highly reccomend it! (It, by the way is a KR808D1 model)

For what it's worth, I'm not aware of any 5v units (which would only be mods) that include a PCC option, so I think you're going to be out of luck there..

Sounds like you're leaning towards a manual Vapor King slightly, and I think it's a worthy model to check out! That meets all of your requirements except #3 (and some may argue on 'lots of vapor', that is semi-relative and depends on other variables like juice).

Don't go the mod way from the beginning, if you don't even know what an ordinary PV tastes like. Not everybody is that fond of high voltage, and you can get TH and vapour from a perfectly ordinary Joye 510, or even better, an eGo. (The disposables are not Joye.) Saves you looking into a PCC, too, since even heavy vapers get by 6-8 hours with one single battery.

Agree with Alex - hold off on a 5V mod....

Affordable starter kit: 510 is known for it's vapor...
Joye 510 NO BOX

or... same kit with a PCC (charger for on the go):
Joye 510 with PCC

But with the Tornado/eGo you get two batteries that last 6-7 hours each, so you could bypass getting the PCC with this kit - also with the 510 atomizer:

Wicked-TORNADO E-NI or Electronic Nicotine Inhalator Black.

And the battery on the Tornado will get you more vapor than the regular 510 batt. Stylish ecig, imo. And while I have other mods and a 5V, I use this about 50% of the time.

See the totally wicked forum here for a coupon code if you go this way.

And if you want to try cartomizers you can get an adapter for the 510 to use cartomizers here:

For some great vape I would go with the ScrewDriver, the thing is well built and vape plume for ever. I have had a fresh battery last me 42 hours and I use my 510 atty on it using a adapter. You wont be made if you go with the SD trust me. Everyone that has one loves them and most have 2+ because they love them so much. The thing sells itself IMO...

I appreciate all the help, I have read the Van Boom's article, but kind of breezed through it and then couldnt find it today when I wanted to read it in depth. Now that someone has directed me to this article I will read it in depth, but I am still confused about the 501, 801, 901, kr808d, etc. I see other mfgs have 501 or 801, etc and TheBlueAdept stated this refers to models, but I am having a hard time believing that these mfgs would all call their models 501 or 801 901. What do the numbers mean? It cant be the models, for example the Prodigy is PureSmokes model ut it states it can adapt to 801, 901, etc.

Sorry if I was too brief and confusing!

If it helps any, think of what I call the Model # designations (510/801/901/etc) as specifications for the size of the threading of the connections, and whether it is a 2-piece or 3-piece design (battery+cartomizer OR battery + atomizer + cartridge).

Some manufacturers DO have other model #s for the same model, which can be confusing. For example, there is the 4072 and 4075, which are the same as the 801 and 901. The guide is very helpful for deciphering that.

Then, after the standard models come some of the customized ones, called 'mods' or 'battery mods'. These use different, often hand-made battery assemblies instead of the stock ones, but still utilize the same cartomizers or atomizers/cartridges of the standard models. For example the Prodigy may have threaded connections for one type, let's say 510, but comes with adapters to allow you to use other threaded connections so that you can mix and match parts to experiment and find what works best for you.

Hope this helps, but really, the article is the best :)

It's a little confusing to sort through everything and grasp an understanding of the ecig world, but you'll get there ;)

Here's a few little things to help:

-I believe you are referring to the JOYE 510. 501 is a common typo :) The dse-501 is an e-cigar if I remember.

-There are models, manufacturers, and vendors. 510, m401, 901 etc are the models, these are produced by the manufacturers (ie: Joye makes the 510, Kanger makes the KR808), and lastly, the vendors are the folks who sell the products. Confused yet 8-o It gets more complicated as vendors (like vapor4life like you mentioned) rebrand models (their vapor king is a KR808). If in doubt, you can ask the folks here.

-Entry level ecigs like the one you should start out with will be a 3.7 volt device. High voltage is a step people choose to take if they feel they'd like more vapor, more throat hit, longer battery life, or a combination of those. Like others, I'll recommend starting on a standard model, and down the road you can move on to a mod if you please. Most mods will use the same atomizers, so nothing is wasted.

-Based on what you want, it sounds like you want to replicate your marlbs and have good vapor. In this case, your best bet will be a Joye 510. It is the most popular model here, and will give you thick, smoke-like vapor, nice throat hit, and it doesn't cost too much. I ordered through the ladies at Cignot.com, and everyone has wonderful experiences with them as well  $35 for their no-box kit gets you 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, 5 carts full of marlb (high nic), and a charger.

-The biggest gripe of the 510 is short battery life, if you think this will be a problem for you I'd recommend springing for a Janty eGo instead, which is a thicker 510 with all-day battery life.

Best of luck :D
