Can I get some help from some diy mixers I've asked this before and know the answer in regards to fruity juices but with custard juices I'm at a loss as I'm getting conflicting advice

What's the best method other than natural steeping to steep custard vapes quicker than the 21 day minimum.
My problem is this the juice I created yesterday smells far too night and potent for me to not give in to temptation but I want it to be as steeped as possible I'm not worried about the nic or degrading it as it's mixed at 3mg.

I have access to radiators, ultrasonic cleaners and kettle (no milk frother as mine crapped out)

Thanks in advance guys an gals

I never steep any of my mixes; I use sufficient flavoring that it's not necessary. Once you get your 5 new member posts in, check out The Flavor Apprentice thread for info about the High Flavor Mixing technique, which as far as I'm concerned makes steeping obsolete.

And welcome to ECF! :thumb:

I do not steep my flavoring but do notice that they change over time.nothing wrong with vaping a fresh mix if it taste good to you. most of the flavor change will occur in the first few days.letting them breath for a few hours can also improve the flavor of some.this may be needed for flavorings that contain alcohol.

Depends on the flavoring you're using. Some flavoring such as Capella is pretty thin and can be vaped almost immediately. I've tried Capella's Vanilla Custard and steeping it made absolutely no difference to the flavor. Other flavorings such as FlavourArt are very concentrated and really benefit from giving it some time to steep and regular shaking of the bottle to help get it evenly distributed.

Also the type of flavor makes a difference. Custards, particularly vanilla take a lot longer for the flavors to develop than mints or many fruits. More complex flavors that combine a half dozen flavors together take longer for the flavors to fully develop than single flavor mixes.

Another factor is how much juice you've mixed. A small 15ml bottle or less takes very little time for the flavor to set, but a 200+ml bottle of the same juice may need a couple of weeks to reach the same point.

Personally I prefer to give my juices at least a few days for the flavors to mix and setup well, but there is no hard and fast rule. Really it's a lot of trial and error. I've found with my own vanilla custard mixes that a month of steeping produces really good results while a simple peppermint tastes no different after the 2nd or 3rd day (BTW, I tend to make at least 100ml at a time). Don't be afraid to try a new mix after only a couple of days, and if you think more steeping could improve it set it aside and vape something else for a while. Really it's all down to your personal preference and only you can decide when it's best.

Yeah, I do notice that when I made a 60ml bottle of my strawberries and cream, it got sweeter and stronger, the longer it sat there. Now if I mix a big bottle like that, I use slightly less sweetener to start off with, and for the first few days or so, just add a drop or two of sweetener straight to the tank. That way when I get to the end of the bottle, it's not too sweet.

Some flavors and sweeteners definitely get stronger the longer they sit. Vanilla is one of the flavors that really requires the steeping to get the most out of it. I never really get a good vanilla flavor until at least the second week. Nicoticket recommends waiting a month for some of their vanilla flavors. Custards Last Stand is one in particular that tastes awesome after a month of steeping but is very mediocre if you try to vape it on the first day.

Some sweeteners definitely get stronger too. My first ever DIY batch was a simple peppermint which I added 1 drop of sucralose for every 5ml of juice. Tasted fine with no steeping time, but two weeks later the sweetener completely dominated the peppermint, and peppermint is a hard flavor to dominate.

when I mix a large batch I transfer a small amount to a 10 ml bottle for immediate vaping and sweeten both bottles separately to avoid that problem. i find tfa french vanilla cream taste pretty good when fresh but tend to mellow with age

Has anyone tried the sour flavor by TFA?

Yes, I started adding just a *smidge* of it to my strawberry & cream, to prevent that *too-sweet* edge -- but I do mean a smidge; .5% or less, because I don't really like sour, but it gives it more of a fresh strawberry flavor, more of a "bite."

That sounds like an excellent plan, which I'll keep in mind, next time I'm mixing a larger quantity -- I was thinking of re-using those 120ml bottles I get my nicotine in, for mixing; so I could then decant it into one brown glass 60ml for holding, and 2 30ml bottles for right now/next week. :thumb:

I was also wondering if the caramel DX was any good. I am going to make a Gambit clone with french vanilla creme and caramel DX as substitutes. In addition, I was going to add clear graham instead of pie crust, or just plain omit it. This way I get a "healthier" vape (no diketones). Any thoughts?
taste is always subjective but I like the DX caramel. it has a strong maple undertone and is not overly sweet like candy but for me it taste good strait or when mixed with a little french vanilla cream and black honey tobacco.( my version of RY4 ) the french vanilla cream is also diketone free. I prefer the DX bavarian cream as well because it does not have the strong custard note and only a mild vanilla flavor.

Welcome kelvin! I hang in the TFA thread, and follow those practices when I mix. High-flavor/low- to no-steep. However, my mixes will "age"/steep/mature because I'll mix about 6 bottles at a time (at least 15mL each) so it will naturally blend because I can't vape it all at one time!

I'm just starting to mix tobacco flavors, and I have read all over the place that you should let tobacco flavors age - they'll mellow and get better.

Vanillas/custards, yes, I think they meld a bit better with some time. Fruits - eh, I hit them right away.

DIY rocks - have fun!
