I just don't get the hang of the caluculators, sorry. And I tried reading in the DIY forum but there is so much there it gets confusing. Below is what I've come up with, can someone check this for me before I make it?

I have one 30 ml bottle of 36mg niccotine from TW, assorted bottles of flavors, PG and VG.

I want to make something around 9mg nic strength. To start with, I am going to make just a 5ml bottle.

Does this work?

1.25ml Niccotine, 36mg strength
0.75ml Flavoring
2.5ml PG
0.5ml VG

Does the above give me 5ml of juice with about a 9mg nic strength? Is this a safe formula?

Once I can make my first one I will be able to experiment but first I need to be certain I am indeed making a safe formula.

I would be so grateful for useful help and not just sending me a link to a calculator.

What is your nicotine in - PG or VG?

And what PG/VG and nicotine level are you trying to end up with?

I don't know how to use the calculators - looks to me like that will end up around 9mg juice w/ 15% flavoring and some ratio of PG/VG unknown because I do not know what your nicotine or flavor is in.

And 15% is not right for all flavors. Some need 5%, some need 20%, one needs under 1 drop (tobacco absolute). You should always test your percentage in just PG first then see how it tastes. An approximate taste test for 15% would be 6 drops of PG and 1 drop of flavoring (i.e 1/7 is about 14%) - taste that and see how you like it, then make the juice.

But if you are trying to make 9mg juice, you have that part right.

Math:
1.25*36= 45 mg nicotine total
1.25+.75+2.5+.5 = 5 ml liguid total

45/5= 9 your liquid with be 9mg/ml So you are correct.

BTW assuming the flavors are pg based ( a safe assumption in MOST cases) you are looking at a 90/10 (pg/vg) mixture.

Assuming your nicotine base is in PG, those amounts will give 9 mg/ml, 90% PG, 10% VG, 15% flavoring.

What e-liquid calculator have you tried? The Breaktru E Juice Me Up is really easy to use. (I used it to figure out your formula)

I actually tend to start from the target, work backwards.

I want 10 ml of 15mg/ml liquid.
10x15=150, I need 150 mg total of nic.

I have 60 mg/ml nic base.
150 mg/60(mg/ml)=2.5 ml, I need to use 2.5ml of my nic base.

I put the nic in as first ingredient, cap the bottle and put it aside.

I now have 10-2.5=7.5 ml to use up, with flavorings and filler (plain vg, pg, distilled water)

This is a handy thing to know! Sounds like I can mix up a new flavor test right in an empty tank and not waste supplies on something I'll want to toss later. Very smart, thanks so much!
