Plain menthol e-juice, no tobacco flavoring, is one of the only flavors I've liked so far. I've ordered some unflavored nic juice (18mg) and some menthol drops to use as flavoring and will be making my first DIY experiments when it arrives. What % menthol is good to start with? (I'm not concerned with diluting the nic content, it's starting at 18mg so a little lower will be fine) From what I've read it should probably be around 3 or 4%. I don't think I'm looking for a strong menthol flavor so I'd like to start low and work up. Anybody have any experience they can share? Will steeping have much affect on just menthol, will I be able to judge the results after a few hours or will I need to give it a week?

Menthol is one you can vape off the bat, after a good shake to mix it.

If it's the perfumersapprentice menthol liquid, or similar, start at about 3 drops in 10 ml of eliquid, shake it, test vape. Repeat, adding just a few drops at a time, until you get what you like, write down the result.

(an atomizer is good for this kind of thing, dialing in a flavor)

This the calculator I use:

As for menthol I now mix my own from crystals but when I was ordering menthol drops I found the strength varied from vendor to vendor. With menthol drops I found about 4- 5% was good BUT as markfm has said start out low and build up and keep notes.

I use 15 drops of TPA's menthol to 30ml of liquid. That makes it pretty strong, so you should try what mark said and add a few drops at a time. I do find that the menthol gets a bit stronger after the first 24 hours, though I don't steep at all. I have just added a few extra drops in the past and then found that it was a bit too strong the next day. I vape PG, nic, and menthol almost exclusively, with or without sweetener. I have a few fruit flavors that I sometimes mix in, but haven't bothered with them for a few months now. I used to be stuck on watermelon/menthol.

My everyday vape is menthol, from "The Flavor Apprentice - Menthol Liquid (PG)"

I do DIY, to keep the cost down low, with "The Flavor Apprentice - Menthol Liquid (PG)" ... I find, 4% of this flavor is perfect for me, at 4%, it's not a mild menthol, and it's too strong of a menthol flavor. I use to smoke, kool filter kings, so this menthol flavor works for me.

Something to keep in mind ...
The % of flavor your adding (in drops), depends on the total amount of juice your making.
example ...
- 4% flavor, for a 5ml bottle of juice is 4 drops
- 4% flavor for a 10ml bottle of juice is 8 drops
