I couldn't tell for sure from your post whether you were using any of your own extracts in the doublers. Is it possible that it's something from the extracts or doublers rather than the nicotine that your're reacting to?

CES,

I am pretty sure it's not the doublers. I've used the same nicotine liquid with some natural tobacco extracts and i got the same physical symptoms. I've also mixed it with concentrates from other vendors - same effect.

I am fairly certain it is the nico liquid.

In that case, i agree with the majority, don't use the nicotine. For curiosity's sake, it still might be worth testing the concentration.

I agree with you. I am just trying to get to the bottom of it. It's not really about the financial consequence. Like I said, I have little experience with messing around with nicotine juice.

I am also curious because the bottle clearly says 48 mg and as I understand it, when nicotine breaks down over time, it becomes less toxic, not the other way around. So I'm curious about why this liquid can be having this effect.

I am now trialling the liquid at 10% and I think it's getting closer to normal levels of nicotine. Either that or whatever is toxic in there is only affecting me by a factor of 10%.

You guys and gals are the best.

Great source of info here.

Yes this liquid from e - c I g . C o m is about 2 years old so it would be the old site, not the new safer one.

Could this be why my friend gave it to me? Sheesh. I also recall my friend wouldn't send me the pg nic liquid I preferred.

Actually I don't think this given to me. I think it was a trade.

Dump the friend right after you've dumped the nic:p

What I am interested in, apart from making myself sick with experimentation surrounds how a liquid that supposedly has much higher levels of nicotine than labelled on the bottle, could be so potent as to make me sick, yet not have a significant throat hit?

I expect that high levels of nicotine in a juice will usually cause a strong throat hit. I am not getting that with this liquid. It goes down smoothly and is followed by some dizziness and a muscle jitteriness.

I've had something similar happen with some commercial juice that gave the same symptoms. Smooth throat hit that would never give away the sheer potency of the nicotine content and then a loss of desire for all vaping, light headed ness, muscle twitches and jitteriness.

If the issue is just nicotine levels then couldn't I just lower the ratio I use in my mixes.

Apart from the nicotine levels being high, is there anything else that could happen to flavorless nicotine liquid for it to make people sick?

Don't base your expectation of the nicotine concentration on throat hit. The only way to know the concentration is to test the nicotine level. VG can decrease TH, and the relationship between increased nic and increased TH may only be linear up to a certain point.

The other, much less likely, possibility is that the liquid became contaminated with something. I'm assuming the bottle had been opened before you received it. Possibly sat around awhile after the seal had been broken. No easy way to test for anything but nicotine levels.

On the other hand, you do seem to keep trying different concentrations and you're still able to type, so the effects seem to be transient.

You can either choose to use it or to not use it until you know the concentration. I'd suggest the latter. :)

I find this thread so disconcerting. You're using your body to try to identify what sort of contaminants could be in a liquid that was given to you. While I understand your curiosity you have no way of knowing what you are inhaling and your body is telling you it's toxic. If you really need to know the contents send a sample to a lab rather than risk your own health.

Okay I will try and test it, though it looks complex. I wouldn't know where to get the other chemicals meant to test it. Seems overly complicated lol. But I'd love to know what the nicotine content is. Anyone want this liquid? I am happy to send it to someone who has a nicotine testing kit, that can tell me, once and for all, what the nicotine levels are.

Message me if you are interested.

My 2 cents.... Put that aside, get some fresh nic to use and get a nic test kit... 1. because the test kit is handy to have.... 2. Cause I'm curious to know if it's a high nic or something in with the nic doing it.

But SERIOUSLY.... If it's making you ill... don't use it. Seems like you said $ was a little tight, but I'd rather vape no nic like a freight train than that and be sick.

Hmm.. If I suspected that my nicotine could be causing my illness, I would simply mix an e-liquid using the same ingredients that got me sick, but minus the nicotine. I'm actually surprised you kept on experimenting on YOURSELF despite the fact that you got sick every single time.

I hope no harm was done to you :)
