I found one for $10.99 w/free shipping 3 1/2 Digital Red LED 200

Yeah, I couldn't see the specs for precision, and range, which is why I found the 1st one I mention the most precise. It measures to less of an Ohm than the others, 0.01 ohms, I think, and one to an ohm of precision, which isn't a lot of good.
I've been looking for these little things for ages, they don't seem to have them here, or I'm not asking for what i should. Now they're popping up every where.

I must revise on the precision required fo measuring resistances for Ecigs, but I imagine 0.1 ohm to be largely clse enough, no?
If your atty's 2.4ohms or 2.5ohms it's not drastic, at least not for me.
Red would have advantages, as I have flashing or constant blue leds every where, the PC, speakers, & now my new battery charger... red would be a change... :D
As well this works on 6V, not 12V, which is a not negligible advantage. With a buck booster you could use a USB connection so I hope the specs will be good :D :D 2 there, coz it's really a good solution if it works at 6V. Wow, my brain box isn't as dead as I thought....

I just mailed them for the specs as far as precision's concerned. If it's 1 ohm precision, it's to out of range, but 0.1 is good for me. Thanks, Dunder M. I'll let you know when/if they reply :D

Or you could get one from fasttech for $10 or so shipped.

Not so much fun, if it's ready made ;) . And they were out of stock (YET AGAIN!!) when I looked :( I'm still waiting for a Mec mod they said would be there in 3 days, over a week ago. Going to change it, but it's a PITA, as I like the one I chose. Apart from that, it's fun making it like YOU want it to be, not FT, and a million others do :D

As I was dropping off to sleep, and dreaming "ohm meters" :p Just though the test amperage needs to be as low as possible, like in the milliAmps, to be really safe for the resistances, and not burn cotton meshes or anything. Have to find out how to get it so low, and which ohm meter's low enough in mA to be good for all sorts of materials. :vapor:

Got a bit out of touch with electronics as far as things like this go, so I'll rummage in my Docs files an dig it up (I enregister EVERYTHING i find might be useful, one of these days, on my PC, when I'm reading up on stuff. I won't even mention all the GB's of info I've collected over the years. I do get rid of the REALLY useles stuff, though :) But as I get cut off from the phone more often than electricity, it's pretty useful sometimes. Power and phone lines on a little mountain are really a drag in the winter, I used to have a lamp, candle and lighter on me when it rained :p but the power lines have been re-installed, so it's only rarely for cuts of electricity now. Phones another question, though :glare: ) I've got a PC (not a portable) that works on 5V, nearly no power, but the discs need 12V. I'd have bought small ones, but they were a leg and half an arm at he time. Now it's one of my regrets :(

But this is something important, the mA question, worth taking time or picking brains over...:D ??? Hello brains out there, tune in when you want.

Yes, buying one would be easy, but not FUN, and not MINE, or YOURS, if you're making one too :vapor:

Here's both schematic and parts list rolled into one:

Credit goes to Electronics-DIY.com

And here's a page with different layouts/parts.

You could also skip all that and just modify an extra set of leads for a multimeter. Wire them directly to a 510 connector and enclose, or not. This would be the easiest solution if you just wanted the convenience of screwing a 510 device in instead of fumbling with the leads. For that matter you could attach the connector to the multimeter itself and leave it set to test ohms. Instant 510 ohm meter.

"Circuit Diagram" & "Electronics DIY" could keep me up all night. Real Gold Mines . Thanks :D

Here is the parts list I used for the Elecronics-DIY meter. You don't want a 0-200Ω panel meter...you want a 0-199.9mV panel meter. The circuit is a neat trick to make a voltage regulator into a constant current generator. After some ohms law trickery and a shift of the decimal point...you have a *VERY* accurate direct readout Ohmmeter. Accurate enough to measure the contact resistance of atty contact, switches, atty posts, ect...

This one that I made is very accurate once tweaked: Spark-O-Matic w/ built-in ohmmeter

Somewhere I seen a standard meter.. that had been mod'ed with a 510 connection on top of it. I have looked high and low and can't find it now. I'm sure it was DYI but still..

Like this? I did the same to my Centech using an old Ego head (pic here). I followed the method outlined here, unfortunately the content is blocked and registration is closed ATM.

If your DMM uses plugs with standard metric spacing, you might want do this instead.

Does us no good if it's blocked/limited/censored - BUT, <click!>There.Is.No.Forum.Except.ECF<click!>

LOL, yeah I know, just wanted to give credit where credit it's due. It's a fairly simple mod: drill out the hole -> insert 510 connector -> solder +/- wire to corresponding plug terminal. :p

I don't know how accurate the Harbour Freight meters are but I have two of them in my garage. Going to pickup a 510 connector on my next vape order and get to work on one of these modded devices. Should take less than an hour.

I have one of them. I"ve not done a side by side with another brand, but I have tested it on various cartomizers (and many other applications) that give the Ω ratings and it seems to be accurate at least to within their own standards. I actually busted a vendor selling HR carts as SR....

Definitely worth the HF price anyway.
