The current used should be very low so a mosfet is probably unnecessary. If your switch can handle half an amp (500 mamps) it should be fine. It doesn't take much current to check resistance. It just takes high currents to fire the coil.

the switches I have are 2 and 4 amp. So I should be fine?

Not sure if this is what you are looking to make. So hope this helps. I made this 2 years ago. Got the bare meter board from madvapes built a wood box and put a momentary switch on it (so I would not accidentally leave it on) Installed 2 rechargeable AAA batteries. Just recharge them every few months and works great for me. I do not remember seeing any that require 4.2 volts to operate the led?

That's what I want to do to a T. Do you have a wire diagram ?
