Yes, it is very cost effective to DIY.
Aside from less expense it was required that I do it in the beginning as I had a sensitivity to something in the juices I had. I needed to pinpoint the problem ingredient. Vaped straight VG first for a day then straight PG the next day, no flavours or nic. For me it was VG that was causing me grief.
Once I eliminated VG from my juices I could continue to vape and smoked less.
Without being aware of DIY and experimenting early on I may still be vaping and not smoking but for sure would be living with the puffer in my yap a Lot more. YMMV. Cheers.

that's interesting that you had a reaction to VG that's the first I've heard of it. thanks for the heads up. I plan on DIY in the near future just gotta make sure it doesn't make the wife sick. she smokes cigarettes and the smoke from that doesn't bother her but if she walks into bath and body Works and it's headache city.

I've hypothesized that second hand smoke can be more nauseating than first-hand, so why not vapor?

Maybe the fastest way, if you can even experiment at all, would be to compare a small vapor device (less PG, VG, appearance) vs. big clouds, but unflavored. That leaves nic.

Flavors, if the same as smelling food at a distance, should be similar chemically to smelling that food, as long as not more intense. Of course, they vary greatly. I've noticed blackberry makes me feel weird.

that is something I'm trying to figure out. I am by no means a cloud chaser, I'd actually prefer as less vapor coming out as possible

Sounds like your wife may have a sensitivity to scents/perfumes etc., it is not uncommon. Many workplaces and venues have scent free policies in place. You may want to look into liquid with a higher PG content. It produces less vapour and requires less flavouring. If the scent is the issue with your wife it might be something to try. Cheers.

I had the toughest time when I first tried vaping - the amount of flavorings used made me gag. I was told that most ready made juices use up to and over 25% flavorings. I now make my own and I use wee amounts such as if using a ready made to make my own I can use 5% of that juice. In my honest opinion she may be very sensitive to the smells - if I had a "normal" vaper in my home I'd probably gag. My grand daughter who has tried vaping says my juices do not have a taste lol - Good luck :vapor:

this is pretty much the problem. she can't walk into bath and body Works or wearing some perfume cause it causes headaches. well tonight my neighbor and I were vaping and he had some 100% PG and she puked her brains out. I think I'm f**ked unless there is a subtle smelling great tasting ejuice lol
