Do automatic batteries turn on if it's in a PCC?

Well I assume that you are talking about either the 510 or the m401 as these models are well known for having the sensitive switch issue and have a PCC on the market. As best I have been able to tell neither one seems to be affected by their switch issue while inside the PCC. My advice would be to just steer clear of sensitive auto switches all together if possible.

I don't recall specifically which models were referred to when I read about the auto switching issue... however I have a Sidesho on the way, 1 auto and 1 manual, and now I have a Revolver kit coming too.

So neither of those are 510 or 401. So does that mean they're not as sensitive as the others are?

In any case, you answered my question regarding keeping them in the PCC. I don't think I'll ever be out and about without the PCC or at least a case to keep them protected, so it shouldn't be a problem then.

Oh and Scottbee that's a good point about the PCC and not having the attys attached, I hadn't thought of that. If I'm using a regular case though, the atty will still be attached... but it should be protected from noise n such I'm assuming.

I've got the Revolver Elite (M702/M803) and that PCC also holds a a completely assembled PV. And the auto batteries on that model are quite sensitive.

I know for a fact that I have been in noisy bars and the battery has been triggering while it is in the case. It doesn't usually damage the battery or atty, but it will kill the battery.

If you have the Gemini on the way...... that's a different beast.

In regards to the sensitive auto switches, I might have fried an atty tonight when I had an auto battery in my pocket at a monster truck show. It was loud obviously and a little while into the show my pocket became very warm. Though I like the audio sensitive batteries better than the vacuum switch ones, I will be buying manual from now on. I have had it activate on accident in the wind and while hanging from my lip as well.

Ah, yeah that's the one I've got coming. So even while in the case it activated? That sucks.... so to speak... lol.

You'd think these things would be activated differently than by sound.. seems a bit odd. Oh well, guess I'll just have to keep that in mind when I go out. If it gets to be a problem (I'm not usually in loud places very often) I can just bring the manual Sidesho with me.

Thanks for the replies! :)

A magnet will also activate auto batteries, at least in the KR8 version. I've got a macbook with the 'quick release' power cord. That cord and the laptop both contain a magnet and if you lay the battery too close it will activate.

Yeah.. the KR8's use a Hall Effect diaphragm switch. Makes them less susceptible to "noise", but they can be effected by magnetic fields. Ya trade one issue for another....
