Hey ECF!

Can you guys please explain to me like I'm 5 as to why drip tips are important for tanks that already have air flow control option? (Eg: Subtank Mini).

I understand buying non-metal drip tips to lessen the heat, but why do some people seem to go for narrower drip tips when they can simply close off the air hole to the smallest size? Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Agreed with the restrictive increases flavor! I prefer a larger inner diameter drip tip with adjustable air control on it to cool down the vape before it goes in, all comes down to what feels right for you and once you find one that works best for you it will find its way on all of your tanks, at least it did for me!

Some prefer the appearance of a narrower drip tip or the way it feels when they take a draw.

Drip tips do matter for flavor like the others said, others do it for the feel. I like wide bore tips or even just a standard 510 one because I use RDAs and I drip down it instead of removing the top cap. My favorite drip tip I've ever used though is the Router from Loki Lab. Has an amazing feel on the lips.

Drip tips matter a great deal to me. Comfort, appearance, and function.

I prefer a larger bore drip tip for direct lung hits, and a normal bore drip tip for mouth-to-lung hits. I use a Cherry Vapes wide bore delrin tip for my sub-ohm dripper/mechanical mod. I use a generic Knucklehead delrin tip with my RTA/regulated mod.

Tip material makes a difference. Over three years vaping, I've used stainless steel, anodized aluminum, pyrex, ceramic, Tru-stone, and delrin/plastic. Each material brings something different to the table.

Metal conducts heat from the atomizer and attracts disgusting lip burgers, so this material is my least favorite. Pyrex glass, delrin, acrylic, and Tru-stone do not conduct heat and have a nice feel to the lips. These materials also come in attractive colors and different shapes to put a nice finishing touch on top of your prized setup.

Shape makes a difference. I prefer larger tips --- they're my adult oral pacifier.

Closing off the air holes will lessen the air going in and the vape amount being produced but your drip tip in a way controls to some extent how its delivered to you when you vape. Or you can have the air holes more open and more air coming in but with a drip tip with a narrower bore the vape can be more condensed. A wider bore can deliver the vapour being produced faster.
Different shapes can alter the experience though for me thats more to do with bore size and length.

Myself Im not too fussed with them and either use the ones the atomiser comes with or I've found the glass/pyrex ones to be good.
Some plastic or delrin ones are ok and others I've found to have a funky smell or taste.
So yeah for me its mostly the bore size and distance the vape is traveling in relation to your build and watts that makes most of the difference.

Others are more into how they look and feel.

I've found, personally, that a drip tip makes a world of difference. I've got over a dozen, and I use them for various atomizers.

Tank with rubbish airflow? A wider tip helps a little. Too much airflow muting the flavor? A more narrow bore helps. Too hot? A long tip gives the vapor a longer distance to travel and cool.
