'm new to Ecigs maybe 1 1/2 months. I didn't like V2 Cigs as the cartomizers were very bad some only lasting for a couple of days. So today I got my Evod kit and one of the things they sent me was a rubber suction cup to hold the Evod upright.

I had to keep the V2 Ecigs upright or they quit working. My question is do the Evods have to be kept upright or can I lay them down? Also does anyone know if there is a step by step way to clean the cartomizers to refresh them ?

I might mention to those who are considering Ecigs as a way to quit smoking using a step by step reduction in the nicotine strength, that I actually prefer the taste of the Ecig over the roll-your-own tobacco. I use the Turkish Blend formula.

Evods clearomizers are some of the best that I have found for not leaking. Understand that this has been my experience and there are others that have had poor experience. I have found that the knocks offs do leak.

I lay mine side ways for charging, I fill them up to take with me for the day and put them in a case for storage where they are very which way. I use them on ego batteries, vv3 and mvp2. They do leave the spot of juice on the battery terminal that all clearos I have used do, q-tips are your friend for this.

You can google for dry burning evod coils and cleaning. They are the same as protank and mini protank coils excluding the PT3.

I use evods and only have had leaking issues with a non kanger branded one (knockoff?). Ive never had them leak from having them upside down or anything like that though. Dont both dry burning or attempting to clean the coils. Its a waste of time. I went through all that garbage. Takes way too much time and doesnt really give a new vape anyways. If your out of a job with tons of free time, feel free to do that. Otherwise you can pickup a 5 pack of coils from 5-8$ shipped.

Hey Mac

I try to keep all of my bottom coil clearos and tanks upright (evod, mini protank and protank) for extended periods of time, it is ok to let them lay on their side for a few minutes with no issues unless they are getting low in eliquid. If they are low in eliquid the vacuum inside the tank will break and then they will overwick into the atomizer head which will cause what we call flooding, easily detected by a gurgling noise when you take a draw.

It was considerate of your vendor to include the little stand (I never got anything like that, I had to chew holes in lumber to make my own stands)

in most cases it is preferred to keep your PV (Personal Vaporizer) standing upright

and yes I am trying to not call them e-cigs (because then people think you are "smoking" which you are not) and not call it ejuice or juice (because then it sounds like something that would appeal to children - which we do not want it to) anything to give the anti-vaping groups less to work with helps (although in most cases they will make up any facts that will fit their thoughts at any particular moment in time)

I have little free time and make good money. I keep a small bowl on my desk, once I get 10 coils or so I clean and dry burn then put in my clean coil bowl. I do not let them get crispy though I swap them out after 3 tanks.

Takes about 10-15 minutes to wash at night for 10-15 coils, then about the same the next day to dry burn the lot, rinse and drop in the clean bowl to dry. Kinda worth it to me, just my opinion though.

From what I've read, if you are flying, or quite possibly traveling through very hilly areas where altitude changes are drastic, you don't have to worry about keeping the EVOD upside down. Only because of pressure changes would effect the tank, and cause it to flood. As far as laying on it's side, I've got an EVOD in my vape box, half full, that's been laying on it's side for several weeks, and there hasn't been one leak.

Cleaning it is easy. If you can wash a cup, you can clean your EVOD. I screw it apart, and under hot water I let the the tank fill and wash out for a few mins. Then, dump out the water, and refill about half way up, plug both ends with your fingers, and shake. Repeat several times. For the heads, I just pull it out, and sit it overnight in a shotglass with filtered water. In the morn, pull it out, and pulse it to dry burn to clear out any gunk. Normal heads last 1-2 weeks, but by cleaning mine, I've had them last 3+ weeks, with multiple flavor changes. When you start getting dry hits with regularity, it's time to change.

Generally, you will want to keep them upright. Having said that, I lay them down all the time with no problems as long as there is plenty of liquid in them. I've only had leaking when there was very little liquid in them, and they were left for a very long time (weeks), and that was when they were upright as well.

For cleaning and dry burning you might want to have a look at this blog : http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/fabricator4/5266-dry-burning-clearomiser-heads.html

There are also plenty of tutorials on YouTube if you need more graphic instructions.

Hey All

I've been using Evods and Pro Tanks for a few months and have only ever had a leak when I took to much wicking out the coils. A couple of tips I found work is when filling I wipe the coil assembly clean with some paper towel and clean the little rubber cup. When putting the cup back I don't seat it in the groove on the air stem just around the wicks, when I put the tank back together the tube on the tank seats the cup and I get a good seal. I always keep some ear buds handy and run it through the tip every now and then just to keep it all nice and clean.

As to cleaning and dry burning I do a few at a time and followed the tips on this forum. One of them is to boil after dry burning, that made a big difference.

Anyway there's lots of info on this forum, helped me greatly.

Thanks for all the input to my question of keeping upright.

I'm going to tell you something that happened to me when I quit smoking about a year ago. I've smoked 2 packs a day for about 56 years. I'm 73. When I first quit I did it cold turkey, having tried the patch and gum. Neither one did it for me so I quit cold turkey. After about 1 1/2 months my pulse went up sky high and I was worried about a heat attack so went to an emergency hospital. 2 doctors told me that my pulse went up to 220 because my body was starved for nicotine, and one of them told me to start smoking again. Both told me to get nicotine in my system and to decrease the levels gradually for about a year or so. The prescriptions they gave me to control my pulse both had nicotine in them.

I spend a lot of time on the computer (an old nerd ) and found out about Vaping. Yes I may vape too much but it is keeping my pulse between 70 to 80. So I'm a happy camper. I use the 18 mlgm per mltr and will gradually cut down the nicotine levels. But I really enjoy vaping and may continue it without nicotine down the road.

This forum has a lot of really good info and I appreciate the input that it gives. Good vaping to you all !

Nicotine also seems to be useful in preventing or slowing dementia and Alzheimers, just to name two. It actually increases blood vessel growth. While I'm happy to reduce my nicotine intake I'm in doubt as to whether I want to cut it out altogether.

I've been using water to cut vaping liquid and it seems to work just fine. I'm mentioning it because most of the vaping folks say to use glycerine.

Just make sure to use distilled water, you don't want to vape tap water. Bottled water is not recommended either (that I have seen).

Using distilled water is absolutely fine to thin out a juice, I tend to do it to my 100 VG juices occasionally. I don't think anyone is recommending using VG to 'thin' a juice - as it is a thick viscose liquid - they were probably saying to use VG to reduce the nicotine in the juice.

Of course, anything you add to a juice will not only reduce the nicotine a little, it will also reduce the flavor.

I've found Evods to be the least leaky of all the clearomizers I have ever used. I routinely lay them on their side without problems. I can't tell you for how long you can do this, but I do it while working or cooking etc.

When I first started vaping, I bought 6 heavy shot glasses at an auction. One by the sink, one by my computer, one on the kitchen table, one bedside, one on the end table. They are perfect for resting my egos...and my wife approves of my accessorizing.

thanks for this bit of info on tanks becoming to low on liquid breaking vacume ect. I just started using the Aspire BDC I didnt notice the problem as much with my EVOD bottom feeds as much, but the Aspire flooded ALOT couple of times and the last time I noticed I couldnt see liquid in the sight glass so started thinking low on juice was mabey the problem. I will not let that happen again but what you said reinforces what I was thinking. Thats a relief to me! easy thing to correct... dont get too low on juice! brilliant!
