Do i need a Ohm Meter?

i will try my first time with a rba Coil, $6.83 Authentic Smoktech SMOK Micro TFV4 Replacement Micro R2 RBA Coil Head - 0.35ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping ,
but i'm wondering if i need a Ohm meter, or can i use the reader on the mod itself?

In my opinion, yes. This is just me, but even if I'm building for a regulated mod, I want to know before I put that build on a mod, just what it is, and if there is a short.

I agree and it's much better to build on an ohm reader I find

As others have said you can use the mod if it shows ohm reading .

Ohm meters are cheap and handy to have if you intend on rebuilding regular as they also double as a building stand to hold the atty while you are creating you build .

They can be found for around the same price and cheaper than what you are going to spend on your RBA head .

What are the risks? A short caused by a loose post, a loose post screw, a leg not trimmed short enough, and is touching a metal cap once it's all assembled.

The risks are minimal. I like building a rig on my meter to keep the RDA stable and I can rewick once I know my Ohms are where I want them.

If you are using a regulated mod the risks are very low. If you have a short in there it just won't fire and say short or something on the screen.

I have 2 ohm readers that just collect dust.

I use my RX200 to build on/check resistance. The RX200 is stable on just about any surface and as accurate as any $10 ohm reader I have used....

yes you will be fine with that .

Ohm meters just come in handy when you need a stable base to build on .

not a must have nowadays with regulated mods just a handy tool if you aint got a stable base to work on .

IMO, ohm meters are a must if you use mechanical mods, which I do. I check every build I do, before putting the atty on a mod. If you strictly use regulated mods, probably the ohm meter in the mod is sufficient.

All my mods have ohm readers. I rely on them exclusively. The Eleaf ohm reader I bought stopped working, but it's a great paperweight/build deck. If someone would buy me a Geek Vape 521 Tab for Christmas, I would be Very Happy, just because it'd be nice to be able to fire coils on something that's not top heavy like a mod, but it's not something I consider a priority.

with strictly regulated mods its not necessary IMHO. I've been using the crappy ohm reader included in my coil master v2 kit which incidentally just crapped out on me.

Instead of an ohm reader, I find a build stand sort of necessary, as I don't feel comfortable building on a mod in case you mess up the 510 connection.

Most current regulated devices are going to have enough safety features to alert you when there is a short or other issues with your build. If this was 1-2 years ago, I'd tell you you NEED an ohm reader unless you're very experienced at building. (Even then you really should use one when building for mech)

Maybe once if you don't want to go sub Ohm and don't have a mod that'll read what you have built. Me, I knock out 1.2 - 1.5 ohm coils in my sleep using my wife's 2mm crochet hook as a mandrel while she's watching her Soaps!

I only use regulated mods and I still use an ohm reader to build on, as stated by others, it gives me a stable base to build on. It's not really necessary unless you use mechs but I still like it lol
