I am gonna wade in here LOL ( like I havent got enough to do )
I think any committed vaper should possibly look at getting a dedicated charging system for their batteries, the std chargers are adequate for what they are but they are designed with cost and functionality in mind, I am in the process of designing and building a stand for all my e-cig gear as a storage and refilling station etc ... I will be building into it facilities for utilising a quality charger.
I have been into electric model aircraft for many years and understand the application and charging of Li-ion ( and Li-poly ) cells quite well .
Our inhalers utilise a very small battery that powers a rather large ( in amps drawn) atomiser, this places great strain on them , and therefore correct pulse voltage charging is likely to have an effect on battery state and longevity ( but no-where near as much effect as if they had a higher MaH battery which is better able to supply the amps to the atomiser)
I would suggest if you are truly serious of getting the best out of your batteries ( regardless of model/type) you invest in a dedicated charger.
The types I would suggest are like these,
DealExtreme: $46.52 Mystery LCD Digital Balanced Charger and Discharger (1~6 Cell Lithium / 1~15 Cell NiCD/NiMH)
If you are really cashed up , try something like this
Swallow 2 AC / DC battery charger for LiPo, SLA, Nicad and NiMH - The swallow 2 is even better with its 100 - 240V ac input or 11-15V DC
Now this particular model doesnt charge below 0.1A which is ok for what we are using , but there are other models out there which will go lower.
A little pricey compared to your standard e-cig charger , but it is a quality unit , that will allow you to control the input rate to your battery I would suggest no more than 0.1A ( still will take 2 hrs or so to charge @ 0.1Amp or you can increase it slightly to charge a bit quicker, but this may affect battery life)
A charger like this one gives you the ability to actually measure how much power actually goes into the battery , so you can see if it is degrading etc , and has a much better method of charging, and determining the shut of voltage ( i.e. when the battery is "done" )
If you have the ability to interpret wiring layouts etc as these are balance chargers , you can charge multiple batteries at once.
The standard plug in the wall chargers do the job , but their quality and regulation isnt so hot , there is little we can do about the amp draw on our batteries in our devices ( short of doing a trog or others modification to increase battery capacity ) but we can massage our batteries nicely when we charge them lol
An aside , if you do buy one of the types of chargers above they will charge every battery you have in the house ( note RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES ONLY ) be they nickle cadmium ( nicads), Nimh , Li-ion, li-polymer , and do it well and with a minimum of fuss, they do require a bit of a learning curve, but will reward you well !!!
And in reference to other posts on other threads ... NO I DONT SELL THEM I DONT MAKE THEM, I DONT GET A COMMISSION , I had to pay for em like anyone else LMAO !!!!!
