out doors shouldnt be a problem as long as their is no local ban in your area. indoors is total at the discression of the establishment. its better to no upset/piss off people that can have a affect on local policies and bans. i rather ask and not be able to vape then just go off vaping free willed and cause issues.

also some people can have allergic reactions to your vaping, if they have sensitivity to pg, vg or certain flavors(cinnamon is common). i try not to vape in closed areas, thankfully every eatery and bar here has a out door seating area, which is where i normally go if the weather is nice

While I do vape indoors. It is only in my office and my house. I think that since so few know what vaping is and that it might just start pissing others off, I respect their rights/wishes and do not even attempt. Plus I like being outside and getting some "fresh air". I know that others might be sensitive to VG or PG so I just go outside. But no one has caused an issue if I am too close to an entrance (Birmingham, AL has a ban on smoking 100 feet from an entrance to a building).

I had a guy get all bent out of shape at an amusement park once while were waiting for the trolley to take us back to our cars.He grabbed his 5 year and held her into his chest and turned away like he was protecting her from gunfire. He was at least 30 feet away from me too.

Backfired on him though when I explained to the crowd how it worked. I got at least 3 nods of approval and a pat on the back from the older people there and then spent a really nice 10 minute conversation taking my 901 apart and showing a couple how it all worked. I told them about this forum and both of them said they wanted to buy one.

The truly funny thing was it was an Anheiser Busch theme park.....its okay to take your kid to a park owned by a company thats at least partially responsible for thousands of deaths each year from drinking and driving and alcoholism but not okay for me to use something that dissipates rapidly in the air and helps save lives.

Problems, naw. I have a cigalike (volt) in the event I really don't want to be seen vaping an ego, tho the vast majority of the time I'm just fine with it (I use a mini ego and clearomizer on the go).

Awkwardness tho, sure - the funniest was the other morning, I was walking to work, half asleep and bleary eyed, I'm sure. A guy said "aww yeah, hit that" pointing to my ecig. I just kept walking, but it made me laugh, and I was half tempted to stop and tell him it's just nicotine. :)

I'm pretty liberal so far with public vaping, but that's my biggest concern. After all, what else does one smoke if it's not a cigarette?

My favorite Vaping in public story was last year, I was at an event at Honda Center (a 18,000 seat arena in California)... out of courtesy i went outside to the smoking section to Vape...

It was raining lightly so i stood closer to the doors than where they allow smokers... a police officer saw me exhale and said, "you need to stand behind the planters if you're going to smoke".

I replied, "well, I'm not really smoking"

His response amazed me, "Oh it's electronic, sorry I just saw you exhale... why the hell are you out here in the rain... go back inside... you're not smoking"

I ended up staying outside for a bit talking with the 2 cops... who were very cool...

But I've never bothered to step outside to Vape at Honda Center again.

Call me an activist but I vape like no one's buisness. Because it is no one's buisness. I vape proudly regardless of where I'm at. If I'm lucky someone will ask me what it is and I often have referred folks to this thread as well as other websites because they genuinely were interested in buying one.

I remember a month ago a friend and I were at a gas pump and I was talking about this very subject and I mentioned I only get iffy about vaping near a cop. And some very rough looking teenager over heard us and said "It'll be fine as long as it smells like fish"(talking about a newage elicit substance you've probably seen at the more raggity corner stores).

My friend and I luckily were done pumping the gas and we drove off laughing and I yelled out the window "it's an electronic cigarette.".

Uhg, vendors really need to start producing commercials for these things, tube and box mods specifically. The misconceptions are getting irritating considering I'm a buddhist and really hate drugs...other than nicotine and I don't like attracting certain crowds.. Lol

Like you said its your own business but I hope you werent vaping while pumping gas for your own sake. Theres a chance especially with a vented pv, albeit slight, that it could spark and ignite gas fumes.

I might even give you a funny look in that circumstance

Even though I've never had a restaurant or bar be anything but totally open with me vaping, I still prefer to keep it stealth anyplace you're not allowed to smoke. Outside, the only time I've ever had somebody say something to me about the vapor specifically was to remark that my "smoke smelled like cookies." I have had a couple people be surprised at how brazen I was ... until I explained that it was nicotine. =D
