Hi all,

I was just wondering what everyone thought about cig-a-likes. Do you use them? Would you recommend them? I'm asking this because I've been browsing around these forums and everyone's talking about all these fancy-named contraptions like the IBTanked Smoktech 2.0 Ohm single coil 2 hole punch or the *I'mCranked VapeTech Ver. 200.21 with quadruple coils and a 1-2 punch combo and I was just curious to know if anyone actually uses cig-a-likes anymore, as they don't seem to be talked about a lot.

*This is not a real vaping device; I just made it up for comedic purposes.

Welcome to the forum! If you're looking into a good performing cig-a-like, then look into the joyetech e-roll. I have one and use it for work. It's perfect for 15 minute breaks and at times I use them when I'm out and don't want to scare the daylights out of unsuspecting bystanders by blowing large vapor with apvs (advance vaporizers like mechanicals, high-powered devices, etc.).

I have a soft spot for cigalikes - I quit smoking with some NJoy disposables. They were the perfect transition vape for me.

This is a special interest board, however, and you'll see a lot of hobbyists in here. Just as with audio or car forums, the chit chat is dominated by people with a fairly deep enthusiasm for the subject, and just like those kinds of forums the gear/tech discussed is typically more "advanced". Any breakdown I've seen of vaping habits seems to demonstrate that the bulk of the market, most of whom probably aren't posting in here as it just doesn't matter that much to them, are using cigalikes.

As many (most? all?) of us say in here - whatever keeps you off the tobacco is cool beans.

For the most part, I'm not a fan of cigalikes. I like the size, and for me they were a successful way to transition into vaping, but... I enjoy what I get from my ego, and the size differences doesn't kill me like I thought it would when I first started transitioning.

This! I started with a cig-a-like and then shamefully went back to smoking. I think that now I could deal with one for on the go or at work, really, a spinner with a clearo isn't that much bigger and satisfies me more. I gave my vapor couture kit to a friend, however, and probably won't buy another. I like my $30 1600mAh just fine.

I quit by using an eRoll; if you really insist on the cigalike form-factor, I really think you can't do better. I got the stainless kind so it looks less like a cigarette to bystanders, plus it's just cooler. :D However after my first full 24 hrs smoke-free, I got an iTaste vv/vw v3 with a Kanger T3S on top, and it IMMEDIATELY blew the eRoll's performance right out of the water; mostly because I could adjust the power to my own preference in vape quality. Now I use the "big honkin' mods" like you're talking about, with either a rebuildable Kayfun or a Smok cartotank on top; that combo is great because it uses removable batteries, the Kayfuns are amazingly trouble-free and stress-free, and so are the cartotanks (and the Smok cartotanks are dirt cheap, $6 at vaporkings), and they both provide outstanding vapes.

I used the cheap Blu ecigs to try it and still use them when the VTR isn't easy to take along. They work okay for what they are IMO and if you get empty carts you can use your own juices which is what I do. Gets me by in a pinch easy but isn't as pleasurable a vape as my VTR by a long shot. I can see getting an eGo Twist setup with a lanyard in the future when the Blu bites the dust or gets lost etc. But I won't be investing in anymore pieces parts for it lol.

My first two months I used cigalikes. It was a constant struggle. I ended up with five of them and four chargers. Plus I lost several-- easy to do because they are so small. It was a very expensive experience. I would rather struggle with quitting altogether than return to cigalikes. Not worth it.

I've vaped for over 2 years and use my eRoll every day. So, I concur. Perfect for breaks, errands, etc. and classy PCC case that looks like an iPhone.

Yesterday, I had a kanger clearo going and pulled out my eRoll.....I blew bigger clouds w/the eRoll. :)

I'm convinced people don't know how to use them. You don't sit and chain vape an eRoll for 25 minutes. You use it for 5-10 or so minutes, then place it back into it's charger.

1: No I no longer use them. ( I did start with them, and basically quit the cigs because of them.)
2: Yes I would recommend them to people who still smoke.
For people who quit successfully using readily available cigalikes, when they do upgrade to less costly systems, the cigalikes are an effective backup plan instead of having to by cigarettes.

I took the advice of fellow ecf members to skip the cig-a-like and go for a simple ego battery setup, which was what ultimately got me off cigarettes.

But I have to say I really do like cig-a-likes.. Cigarettes were where I came from so there's always something about having something between my index and middle finger that comforts me. I use the Mig Cigs Clear Fusion Tanks with 65mm 808D-1 batteries for when I miss the feeling of having smoke between my fingers.

Keep in mind my cig-a-like setup would have never gotten me off cigarettes if that was the only thing I had.

I quit last year with the eGo C Twists. I lasted 9 months and used 24mg vanilla flavored juice that I got online. It was HORRIBLE. This time around, I spent a LOT of time here learning everything that I could to be successful at my LAST quit. I ultimately went with the rebuildables and I now have drippers, RBAs etc and I'm currently frustrated as HECK with a leaking orchid. sigh. I am however now fluctuating between 2-6mg nicotine juice and using 3-4mls a day so that is a HUGE. I still have a white eGo kicking around and I tried it out the other day and wondered what the heck I was thinking by even going back to give it a try again. The cigalikes are good for people when they first quit. Those that are serious about it look online and come to forums such as this one and then you get a bad case of 'shinyitis' and then it's all over:facepalm:

I also quit using the cigalikes, I started with V2 batteries and cartridges and found cheaper batteries when those broke and cartridges I could refill. I used them all day every day and was stuck on 18mgs for over 2 years. I quit fairly easily with them, I also started running regularly and seeing how my breathing improved made it that much more rewarding for me. I switched the a Kanger Mini 2 setup a little over a month ago and am down to 12mgs with that and 6mgs with the Atlantis/ SK clone I have. The upgraded delivery system has been very effective. So, I would recommend a cigalike if you want to stick to something that simulates smoking a cigarette, I think it made for an easier transition. I smoked 1/2-1 Pack of Marlboro Reds a day.

I used cigalikes for 5 months when I switched to vaping. I would definitely recommend V2 Cigs. I used those to quit smoking completely. I just went to bigger and better things but if I had to I could go back to them. They're just not my preferred vape. You can get the V2 with a clearomizer and fill it with juice yourself. That actually ends up being a little bit cheaper than the prefilled cartridges.

No, not for me. They were a 100% fail at getting me off the 15 a day. In the UK, most of them are a pure money-making product. They claim to do x,y,z but actually most of that is lies.

The form factor is not the issue - it's the performance and nicotine yield coupled with the price.
If people like small models and are not wasting £1,000s on the cartridges (cartomizers), then that's fine.

I have both 808 and 510 set-ups.. they are OK with strong liquid. None of this hardware was bought from a brand like Blu or V2....
V2 are one of the biggest rip-offs we have in the UK. The prices are outrageous. So are Apollo.

The right cigalike can get you off of real cigarettes. I used Green Smoke and it worked perfectly, great little cigalike for flavor and throat hit. I almost immediately upgraded once I did some research though. But I still use the Green Smoke from time to time (since I have a billion prefilled carts left still). I'd recommend them to someone getting off of cigs in a heartbeat. Green smoke even has a 1$ starter kit that isn't a scam. Good stuff.

Still. If I had the choice? I'd go back and buy an MVP2 and a decent clearomizer instead.
