I've been having some issues with my 3ohm Smoktech cartos getting dry and failing in a tank, and checked out some videos online. Some videos and posts have a priming phase that fills the carto like I'm used to, then a few steps to pull juice from the tank until you get a gurgle. Pulling juice into the carto from the tank can take 1-2ML's which I was really suprised at. I feel like this would be considered flooded, and if I were to pull medium-hard like I'm used to then I get a mouthfull of juice.

Do you guys fill until it gurgles?

Where you least expect it....
I fill a cartomizer as I normally would. The top of it being dry during use is normal. However, if you are noticing that the flavor is not as it should be for you. Then there are a few tips that might helps. As you've mentioned, you can do a few primer puffs to get the e-liquid flowing again.

Although, you might try doing the primer puffs lightly. Another trick would be to punch bigger holes or more smaller holes (maybe 3 or 4 depending on VG%). If you slot your cartomizers then try making the slots bigger.

That should help with feeding the cartomizer when it's used in a tank.

Im so glad I saw this because all this time I was under the impression that the carto had to be wet from top to bottom at all times. It such a relief to see that its normal for the very top to be dry. I would many times pop the drip tip off and look at it and see that the top was dry, I would get either a straight pin or a dental instrument and sort of poke around and I could see juice about a 1/4 of the way down real wet. I was getting large plumes of vape and good taste. I was making myself crazy.

I thank you !!!!!

Yeah, Im NORMAL !!!!!!! well kind of.....

No, don't like the gurgle. If it's running dry for you, I think they come in up to 3 holes?? So you can increase your holes.

If mine's running dry, I blow out from drip tip side thru battery end until I get a few drops(this works as a first prime also). If it continues, I enlarge 1 hole.

If mine gurgles, I blow from battery end thru drip tip side until dry.

Gurgleing when filling a carto is normal as the juice can get in the center part of the carto. Yes you can blow excess juice and that will take care of the problem. I have in the past had a carto suddenly start to gurgle and flood, mostly on a carto that has had heavy use and been cleaned more than a couple times. If you get constant gurgles on a new carto it could be the result of punching it too deep. If you punch too deep you can sometimes pierce the cover that keeps the wire and separated.

i am not one of those cheap people that are concerned about wasting $.03 of juice here and there. So when i get it good and full, I blow through it, and blow the excess out the battery end (no ecig attached) in to the sink or a towel. If I feel ambitious, I will pull the tank up so the hole in the carto is not in the tank anymore, then blow. that keeps from sucking juice from the tank and blowing it out the bottom. Seems to work for me.

I am also not one of those ritual type people that have a certain way to do everything. Sometimes I will fill it as much as I can and throw it on and go, sometimes I will put a condom on the bottom and keep filling it until it won't take any more then use it, sometimes i will pump one full and put condoms on each end, and throw it in to my little case so it is ready in a week or what ever, just do what works and don't worry about what everyone else does. in the grand scheme of things, stuff like this is pretty minor. I don't worry about flavors, or steeping, or much else as long as my batteries have juice and I get vapor from it.
