Hey guys just recently got a Lemo2, wasn't happy with the coil that it came built with for some reason so built my first one to put in. I think it came out pretty good, I believe it came with 24g Kanthal and I did 11 wraps around 3.5mm came out to 0.9ohm. It takes a while to ramp up but seems to give a nicer vape to me than the stock one which was like 5 wraps around 2mm at 0.5 ohm.

Anyways, I tossed the original coil and now am wondering if I really had to or could have saved it. When you guys try new coil builds do you save your older builds? And being that it's really just resistance wire does a coil ever really need to be replaced or is it just for novelty/trying new builds?

I never save my builds. It takes me about 15 seconds to wrap a new coil and it's pennies for each at this point. The novelty of making coils has worn off a bit for me, so I only really change if I'm experimenting or its gunked up. Either way, I generally never save em.

Same with me. Once you build a coil that works, why keep the old one? You now know how to build it if you like it. If you get bored with a coil, you could put it somewhere for safe keeping while you try something new but I find that once I get the right build and wicking for whatever rda I'm using, I stick with it for a while. You can clean coils too. I've used the same coil in my subtank rba for 10 weeks with twice a week cleanings and rewicking.

It is good as new. That's the best part. Dry burn to clean the crud off, rinse it under some water or dip in to a bowl of water and rewick. If it works and you like the vapor and flavor, why throw it out? It takes 30 seconds to clean and rewick. It's 10 minutes to build a new coil and install. I don't know if cleaning is a good option for nickel or titanium but we'll find out soon.

Coils last me months if i clean them. I tend to experiment until i find a coil that really suits a particular RDA, then stick with it. I keep a log of all my builds so i have a reference for future builds. I know this sounds a bit ...., but my medium term memory is shot and I find it useful.

How do you know its dead tho? I know it's a dumb question but just built the one, I dry burned the stock one a few times and it looked good as new each time I did.

Over time, the resistance will go up. When it gets to a value that you no longer want, it's time to build a new one.

If my coil is good I might just give a couple of short bursts to clean the gunk and rewick. But once you take off the coil very often it's pretty useless keeping it. The legs are snipped off and it would be too much of a job trying to screw it back on.

As it happened I too got my Lemo 2 in the mail today. I vaped a couple of mils on the coil it came with but decided I wanted higher ohms. I prefer something in the region of 1.2 personally - I find the flavour better and not so much of a throat hit.

Generally I wrap more than one coil at a time, in different AWG, different diameters, different ohms. I keep them in small ziplock bags with the build marked out - in much the same way as I do with my DIY juices - so I always have coils on hand for all my different atties.

I got one here going on about 4 months in my kayfun and a dripper I use occasionally I wicked in jan lol
But
A I use silica, they don't get damaged from rewicking.
B I don't use extreme power so they don't see major stress.

When I was exclusively using genesis I had several hit 6+ months easy

At 9 bucks for 100 feet of wire there's no reason to save anything
