How often? Not very, really. It mostly happens if I draw too hard on the first hit after a drip, but this happens pretty rarely for me.
I also use drip tips on my CE2's for mouthpieces. I get less juice in my mouth this way than with the stock rubber tips, but still occasionally get a hot splatter on the tongue. I was considering that, as well, on my poll answer

I think you'll have better results with a drip tip as opposed to an empty cart, but depending on other variables you may have to adapt your vaping style a little bit to eliminate juice-in-mouth syndrome altogether

If a drop of juice gets stuck in the drip tip, which is not at all uncommon, you'll get it in your mouth.

You can blow that drop of juice down the same way you blow across the top of a coke bottle to make it whistle.
I give it a quick blow every time I drip, and now I never get juice in my mouth.

I'm sure there are ways to make a drip tip that would prevent any drops of juice from getting hung up.
If anybody makes one of those, it will cost a bit more, and I will buy it immediately.
