I FINALLY got my Passthrough BE112 from China and yes, it appears to be DOA

This thing was given the title "my best ecig" by our own senior member robw, I was really hoping for more.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/electronic-cigarette-reviews/5899-my-best-ecig.html

To be honest, after using and loving my 901, this thing is a total piece of crap! Light and cheap feeling, didn't come with ANY carts... not ONE, but a whole bottle of nic juice

This isn't a review, but more of a rant. Is it even worth trying to get my money back from these people?

So now what? Can I make a Magnum from these parts? As far as I can tell, the nic juice seems ok, the atomizers look like the "good ones" off the 901... I think the passthrough is the problem.

Any help?

*EDIT* apperantly if you plug this unit into your laptop computer USB, it will light the LED but not provide any vapor/hit, making it seem dead. Plugged into the wall via USB makes it work fantastically.

The unit still feels cheap, but works so well that I just don't care

The Cola and Menthol from the site are quite nice as well. Up there with Johnson Creek IMO.

Have you tried different atomizers with the passthrough?

I ask because there are a wealth of posts here concerning connectivity issues between certain atomizers and passthroughs - if the center poles of the atomizer and of the passthrough are not making connection, it will appear to be dead, but is not.

I've tried both that came with the unit :( Either both are dead, or it's the passthrough...

Well I definitely screwed the pooch on this one. The 112 works just fine. Turns out my computer's usb port is not enough power for it... but my iphone wall charger works great!

So i'm happily vaping away at the moment. I'll have to apologize for accusing the companies product for not working when it was merely user error. I lost one of my 901's and the other is in the shop... I get antsy without my beloved ecigs :D

Most USB ports put out 100ma until they sense a device request for more power, and these passthroughs do not "request" or even register as a device. Your wall charger will have 400ma to 1000ma(1amp). I cut the usb off of mine and wired it to a 5v, 1amp power supply and it works great.

just an FYI.

So what is the "5v, 1 amp power supply" you wired it to???

I actually have mine plugged into an iPhone charger that looks like this:

...and it is 5v 1A, usb. It's perfect, I would recommend it %100. I like the DIY way, but this is just much easier ;)

I just ordered one of these so that is why I asked the question. This makes more sense to me.

Down South, USA.
I had the white one but let a friend have it, Doh! E-Bay for less then $ 10 and couldn't wait for another one. 18 days from China!
Invidregis, That one looks like it will work just fine too.

The main reason I modded mine is that I have had 8 or 9 of these zipp power supplies laying around for years and no other use for them, so I guess I'm set.
