Does color screen on mod gives anything?

While it is not a major factor in buying a mod, one thing I do really like in a color screen is the battery gauge showing green when good, yellow when low, and red when it's time to change.....although I rarely let it get to red, must admit I have seen it. Necessary? No. But why not?

Color screen? Almost five years in and I'm still learning how to measure stuff in milliliters and millimeters and now y'all want me to remember what color means what too?

Damn you. Damn you all.

I don't care about color - I would prefer that they incorporate a TV remote. That way, when I attempt to change the channel with my mod, it would actually work.

The second largest is going to be the back light of the screen which does not care what color screen is in front of it.
Sure, if your screen is a backlit LCD. Most I've seen these days use OLED though, where the pixels light up individually.

You are correct that OLED screens are not back lit, but that just means they use EVEN LESS energy. It still costs a lot more energy to produce the light than the color. I assume you have an OLED cell phone, charge it to full, set the screen to never go off, set the brightness all the way up and let it set until the battery is fully drained. See how long that lasts. Now do the same thing with it set all the way to dim. You will see how much of a difference brightness makes.

Even then, these small OLED screens might use 20-40 mA (0.02-0.04 A) of power. When your coil is pulling 20 whole amps, even at 0.04 amps the screen is 500 times less power than the coil. It might make a minute or two difference MAX comparing a screen to no screen. Even less comparing color to monochrome

If I had a big, colored screen I would be way more worried about not scratching it than battery life.

These are kind of first-world problems. I think whatever your solution is, OP, things will be Just Fine.

You could always get a screen protector for it. :D

You have your own submarine? Cool.
Yeah, got to have it to make quick trips to China, saves time on shipping from SlowTech.

Do you use .02 ohm coil :O ?
I did, once. Not a good idea. New level of heat from that... doubled up stainless mesh on a VV Mesh RDA, it almost melted my Athena... left it's mark on the contact. Never again.

Seriously, I don't think it takes away enough battery life to worry about. Comparing to the DNA 75 I had in the Inbox, my Therion lasts as long. If there's a difference it's so minimal that it doesn't really matter.

    Larger screens...YMMV.

Can you turn the color screen off and make it like the original screen on the DNA 75 c? The color screens look so cheesy to me. I think it really makes the device lose all it’s class.
I disagree, however if it bothered you terribly there are themes that mimic the original 75 screen.

Plug it in, go to Escribe and go for whatever trips your trigger. I suppose class is a relative term. ;)
