VG has a higher viscosity and a slightly lower boiling point, I would imagine those are contributing factors.
PG boils at about 360 -380 F. VG around 550 F. Water at 212 F.
I think atomized VG particles tend to be larger as they are heavier.

For me personally it is the opposite, the more VG the slower I go through juice. For example, most of the time I make my own juice and for months I was vaping about 80 VG, 20 PG, however for the past 3 weeks or so I have vaped 90 VG, 10 PG and I noticed my aromamizer tanks go though juice a bit slower with more VG.

Might have to do with the wick you are using though. I strictly use Rayon to wick all my coils. Rayon is very absorbent and may be more efficient going through the thicker juice at a slower rate.

You may be right. The general perception I have gleaned from the forum is that
VG seems to vape at a faster rate. This may be due to higher powered devices,
the meteoric rise in the popularity of VG and,new vapors.

Yea I only vape at 30 watts 0.3 ohm dual coil. But most others that are sub ohming with high vg do go up much higher I would say at least 60w but not uncommon for guys approaching and going past 100. Vg provides a cooler and smoother vape to go to higher wattages. Only pg in my recipes is in the flavoring meaning I make juice with as much as 98 percent VG :)

If you make your own juice it's not as big of a deal burning through a tank quickly at least.

I just checked my coils after about a month, a little carbon on them but not that bad. Since everything was open up I just replaced the coils. I just began making my own e liquid and have a RY4 tobacco flavor in the tank and I've noticed I no longer get a brown ring at the bottom of the tank, I'm using 80 PG with 20 VG because I've heard the PG carries the flavor. I'd like to get lots of flavor and the least amount of carbon build up.

Right now I'm at 9 mg, I went from 18 to 12 and am now using 9 mg. Cutting down the nicotine is easy since I go by the flavor I get. I compare it to a pipe I used to smoke and the throat hit is the same sensation I get from the pipe. I find the tank used causes the most difference. The Vaporesso tank is the best, the e Leaf Pico has good atomizers and the Kanger tank is the worst.
The 80 20 mix comes from a premade liquid I bought and liked.
