IMO it does. 12 to 18mg I cant taste the nicotine, 24 I can taste it a little bit, at 28 and above it almost over powers the flavors. ymmv....

I agree with this. And I learned it the hard way.

I was having a hard time getting strong fruit flavors using Lorann flavoring. At 28mg, you have to use so much flavoring to mask the nicotine that the DIY mix would taste terrible. But some mixes like Ameretto or Caramel blend well even up to 28mg.

Also, Cheap e-juice base can be so bitter that no amount of flavoring can hide it.

Geoff's FAQ over at TV says: Nicotine does have a flavor, and it is strange, the raw product smells HORRIBLE. And the higher the concentration, the more this strange taste will be present.

Its true imo - I could always smell it when I started vaping too, can't smell it now though. Theres a definite 'peppery' after-taste though to me at the higher nic levels.

It definitely affects the throat hit but it also has some weird synergistic effect on the flavor. The thing is you only really notice it at higher nicotine strengths. If you are going for the higher end and are sensitive to the taste you'll need to pick the appropriate flavor to pair it with. I've found coffee and chocolate to work well, really sugary fruit flavors don't.
