It's been almost a month now since I started vaping, since then I have converted two others and possibly a third who is looking into ordering one now.

Before I made my purchase I did a reasonable amount of research, I am a bit of a chemical Nazi when it comes to what I put inside my body. Luckily I found this site, and managed to get a large amount of valuable information. I also stumbled upon ZigCig's youtube channel (who does great videos btw).

But I think for many new users the amount of misinformation on the web is staggering. It did not bug me until recently, now it's become a new pet peeve of mine. And I am not just talking about the negative stuff.

For example, I seen a video on youtube done by a Florida news station which did a series of bits on the E-Cig. While the overall tone of the segments was positive and they showed some people who had quit... they completely missed the mark on factual evidence.

For example they said at least 3 times that it costs roughly $200 to buy one. They made no mention at all that cartridges are refillable and come in varying nicotine levels. They made it sound as if it was simply a smoking cessation product and nothing else. No mention of how some people use it because they enjoy smoking and real cigarettes will kill you. :p

Another video was of a so called board certified doctor who was schilling his website. Instead of actually showing an e-cig he compared it to a writing pen /facepalm He then propogated the myth by telling people they contain Ethelyn Glycol.

And many of us have now seen the infamous Rachel Ray clip. Who knew we had such a powerful lobby and that they are going dollar for dollar against big tobacco *rolls eyes*

So what about you folks, does it annoy you as much as it does me. And do you try to correct people when you hear such terrible information both pro and con?

Unfortunately misinformation is a part of life. People either accidentally remember, read, or hear something incorrectly then they pass the bad information on to the next person. From there, it is passed on exponentially getting worse with each person compounding the issue.

All we can do it attempt to correct the problem and explain the facts to the best of our abilities.

What does annoy me is when highly public people, who should have done more research, give bad information. This is unacceptable! If you are going to report on a particularly subject you should do the appropriate research so that you can pass on the correct information be it good, bad, or ambiguous.

The idiots are taking over.

However, I know a lot of people think an electronic cigarette is just that. A cigarette that is somehow ignited electronically. They assume its just another tobacco product or something and not a nicotine solution that is vaporized. Maybe we should call them "Nicotine vapor delivery systems" or something :)

As far as the entry price being $200, thats not too far off if they bought their kit from a mall kiosk. Some kiosks sell basic kits for $100.

The misinformation makes me extremely hot under the collar. I mean instead of looking up the info they just take negative things they have heard and regurgitate it at me and others. I once had someone say to me "Yeah, there cool. But electric cigarettes give you brain cancer" and I just had no response to that situation, there was literally no words that could come out of my mouth.

Well I expect it on the internet from random people, you know the old saying about opinions are like..... ;)

But I think what really bugs me is so called news organizations reporting on information that is blatantly untrue or poorly researched. I think the reason it gets under my skin so much is because I think of all the people who could benefit from a healthier lifestyle from vaping but were turned off by bad information.

The worst is the bogus FDA report, people do not research it, investigate the methods or question the results.... they just parrot what it claims.

It's as bad as the whole BPH in baby bottles, dozens of outside studies have shown it's toxic to children and can cause a slew of health issues. But the government ignores those studies and trumpets ones by the oil and plastic industry. *shakes head*

Waiting for the government to latch on to studies saying that e-cigs are bad for your health.... the studies will of course be paid for by big tobacco. :p
