The biggest problem with clones is vendors trying to sell the clone as original products. Often a clone is made of leftover or redesigned parts of the original. The ProTank is an example of that. The first proTanks had issues with the 510 threaded bases. The solution was to make the base part for the 510 threads thicker. I was at a B&M over the weekend and they had "ProTanks" on sale for $15.00. Picked up one and the 510 thread base was thinner then the base on the ProTanks I have. No "Kanger Tech" etched around the bottom. I'm sure it would have worked fine until it fell over and then the 510 threads would have snapped off.
EVODS are another example. I read a post here about the "size" of the window in the outer shell being differant sizes and the inner edge of the shell in the window openning wasn't coated. Sounds like these shells didn't meet Kangers specs and were sold to someone else. Some of the bases don't have Kanger etched around it. The ones without the Kanger etching have issues threading onto my adaptors for my APV. I have boths, and they were sold as original Kanger EVODS. That's the B&M or their supplier selling the unmarked ones as originals. The Kanger EVOD/ProTank coils is another item. With the hosts of other companies selling tanks that use "Knager Coils" it leads me to believe that either kanger is making them for their own products and selling to other manufacturers or all the companies are buying them from the same place just as auto industries buys tires and batteries from other manufactirers. With the explosions of vaping the demand for these coils must be outragous. Increase demand means increased production and with that comes lax quality controls and that is becoming more apparent in the reviews of tanks that use kanger coils.
Be informed purchasers.
