Don't Inhale ?

Hi dudez:

I am embarrassed to admit, I've never understood this terminology in smoking..

What does it mean when someone says "I don't -inhale" ?


How can you not inhale ?

I realize with cigars you keep most of the smoke in your mouth.. but you still have to inhale (engage the lungs) to draw that smoke in.. some of which invariably goes into the lungs..

No, you do not need to use your lungs to get cigar smoke in your mouth. You create a suction around the end with your lips and just draw by using your cheeks and tongue. I can draw off of an ecig/cigarette/cigar with my throat completely closed and no air entering my lungs. Have you ever smoked a cigarette? That is the way 99% of people smoke...you draw the smoke into your mouth and THEN you inhale it.

I inhale my ecig just like I did my cigarettes. I wouldn't enjoy it much if I didn't get a good lung inhale. I love long draws that fill my lungs. That's me though. Everybody is different.

Well, I guess not all people smoke a cigarette by drawing into their mouth first, but I am yet to actually meet someone in person who just does a straight up lung inhale. I hear people claim that is how they smoke but I just don't see how that is even slightly enjoyable, but I guess this is subjective...

So you inhaled your cigarette straight into your lungs? I tried that once and it was painful....How do you even enjoy that? Everything about that whole scenario, the taste, harshness, everything just skeevs me out...This coming from someone who sub-ohms 18mg daily, so I don't necessarily enjoy a light cigarette, but damn, that just sounds awful....

When I found out that there were smokers that did not directly inhale into their lungs, I was flabbergasted.
I had never heard of such a thing in my 27 years of smoking.

I have never heard of a lung inhale before I started to vape and then I found out that is how my mother and father smoked! That is why when they tried by PV they both choked. I had thought that I have been smoking wrong all them years but then I found out that some did do mouth to lung. My mother is having a hard time breaking that habit.

Same. I even inhale some of the cigar. I don't think you can fully bypass your lungs either. Whether mouth to exhale my guess is you still get some in your lungs. I tried not to once, couldn't figure it out. Direct lung inhales is how I could finish a smoke in under two minutes when it is 10 degrees outside. Huge headrush though, great lung feeling.

We could always ask the Clintons for advice

I don't understand how most of the comments on here already say that you were lung-inhaling cigarettes directly with no mouth draw, yet I have NEVER met someone in person that does this. I have never even heard of it before I saw someone mention it on the internet. Just so strange. Maybe it's just in my area that no one straight up inhales into their lungs? I can see it being normal with ecigs since it is nothing like cigarette smoke, but analogs...I could never....

So the idea some folks have is that you inhale into the mouth and then the lungs? I think that would (a) take me a while and (b) make me go purple. Yes, pipe smokers are only supposed to take their nicotine in without inhaling. I've heard that many times. Didn't cut it for me.

Dude....what is happening here. I thought when you smoked a pipe you inhale directly into your lungs. Is it seriously normal to smoke a cigarette without pulling into your mouth and then inhaling? I...I...I just don't get it....

EDIT: NVM....misread...But the fact you inhale cigars directly into your lungs is kind of strange to me as well. I guess everyone has their own way of doing things. I thought there was at least some majority to any way of smoking anything but it looks like someone starts their own way and just keeps on doing it that way and eventually it seems like the right way.

What you're supposed to do is inhale into the mouth with closed throat and absorb nic through tongue and cheeks. Yeah, right...

And re: fags - no - cigs: if the draw is sharp enough it just rushes straight into the pit of the lung. Yeah.
