Hey all. I've been vaping a few weeks now and am committed to it (no more analogs). I started with the Vapor4Life Vapor King UU set so I'd have all the bells and whistles. I've ordered quite a variety of cartomizers since then and a friend of mine sent me a huge sampler from her own stock so I could try out all the flavors. But from what I understand, pre-filled carts don't offer the best flavor. I am waiting on a juice order from DIY.

I had some carts from V4L that I didn't like so I used the boiling method to clean them out, hoping to recycle them for juice. In the meantime I have a bottle of juice from V4L with which to practice. So I filled a few of those cleaned out carts using the condom method with the Tairyn spin, and...nothing. There is flavor but absolutely no vapor. I let them sit for 24 hours, tried again, no vapor.

Not sure what I am doing wrong. And to be honest, I find this kind of annoying anyway. What are my other options as far as using juice? There's so much talk about the different batteries and attys and mods that my eyes glaze over from all the abbreviations in the forums that mean little to me at this time.

Looking for some straight-forward product answers here. What else can I use if I don't want to use the pre-filled carts and don't want to spend all my time filling blank ones?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

the easiest most straight forward option would be to get a 901 atomizer and cartridges for it...and use that on your batteries you already have..then you'd be using it as a 3 piece ecig...

honestly though the vapor production is going to be based on what juice you're using and which of the umpteen different cartomizers that are out there now...

heck you've got 3 different types from V4L alone....some flavors will produce better vapor than others...adding a bit of VG will also help...

your other option would be to get a 901 to 510 adapter, and a 510 atty...which is a vapor monster (even moreso on a KR8 battery (which is what the vapor king is))...and try dripping or using 510 carts..

Thanks Drozd. I need to read up more on 'dripping'. But I also thought I read that there's another mod you can use that has a direct juice hook-up? Know anything about that?

there are a bunch of them...juice feed mods....generally they contain a bottle of juice and you squeeze a bottle or push a button (that squeezes a bottle) and it feeds juice into the atty from the inside...

probably one of the more sucessful ones is the Reo search for the user ajamin he does a bunch of reviews but here's at least one for the Reo from someone else http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...9401-reo-wooden-box-mod-juice-fed-review.html

Bet you anything that those cartos you washed out still had water in them! If they do, even a tiny bit, you're not gonna get any vapor and will suck on that thing until you're blue in the face. Be sure it's dry dry dry before you fill. Leave out for a couple of days to dry and then -to be sure- hit it with a hair dryer. Or you can dry 'em in the oven for 20 mins at 120 degrees. THEN fill with you favorite juice!

Also, it helps to pre-heat the atty in the carto buy holding down the button for a second before you inhale. If not a manual battery, take a couple primer puffs first to get it going...

Good luck!

Edit: You could also have killed the cartos by boiling 'em. Next time, clean by running hot water through them. And BTW, you got quality merchandise so I'm guessing it's "user error".

A cartomizer holds approx. 1 ml of juice so will last a lot longer than a 3-piece model except maybe the 801. You can try a 901, like Drozd suggested and drip instead, but you will be dripping constantly so you should be aware of that fact.

The fastest way to compleatly dry a carto is with a syringe. Just syringe the water out of it, let it sit overnight and then syringe it again. You will be surprised at the amount of water that will still come out the next day, but you will get it dry this way.
I havent found another way to do it that really works for me.

Good idea! Never seen that one before. I have a couple of 510 cartos that I put blueberry juice in and OMG can't get rid of the taste so will have to wash 'em. I have a syringe so I'm gonna try it your way! Thanks for the tip! :)

To me the best way is to drip. I've tried most everything out there and it was just a pain cleaning out carts, washing or replacing filler, and refilling all the time. I even bought a 5 pack of cartomizers recently to check them out and the one I tried works pretty well but I'm just hooked on dripping. The cartomizers will be good for backups or when I'm driving for long periods and just can't drip but I can't see using them very much.

I use both 801's and Joye 510's. I drip 7 to 8 drops in the 801 and 4 to 5 drops in the 510 and that provides me with a good 12 to 15 drags before I need to drip again. To keep from flooding I don't drip until I'm ready to vape again. I vape like I smoked. I'll vape a session and then wait an hour or so before I vape again.

Everyone's different and there are a lot of ways to do this and a lot of good advise that you'll find out here but this works great for me. You will eventually find what works best for you too. If you haven't dripped much you may want to give it a try and see what you think.

Ok one simple thing made ALL the difference!

I went to V4L website and they recommend filling from the battery end, not the mouthpiece end (with the white cap). I had been the mouth end because thats what the guy in the youtube vid was doing. So I tried it the other way, 11 drops in the cap condom method filling the battery end, then 4 drops in the top to make sure the batting wasn't dry on top, and VOILA! Works like a charm.

Yup, If they are even a little wet they won't work. I am not a patient person, I put my cleaned cartos battery connector end down in a Altoid tin bottom with some uncooked rice to hold them upright. I put this in the oven at 225 for two hours. Any baking dish would do. They are always dry when they come out. Also, after I blow them out the first time, I let them sit battery side down on a paper towel for 5 minutes, then blow them out a second time before I put them in the oven. You could probably get away with a lower oven temp and less time but I really hate that wet carto thing. Best of luck.
