Don't throw your used cartomizers away! Clean them.

I bought a cheap vaping set and was buying filled cartomizers for my "Free Trial" type set. I did cancel the free trial within the 14 days but I was allowed to keep the kit. I was offered a decent price for filled cartomizers about a week after I cancelled so I kept buying filled cartomizers from the company for several months - until I found this forum. BTW, you can buy a cheap ($19.95) vaping system from reputable Forum Suppliers.

I recently purchased an Joye eGo set (my first quality set). I am thrilled with the eGo set, however, that is not why I posted this thread.

I kept most of the cartomizers from my cheap set and now I'm glad I did. I was doing some research and ran across a thread here about cleaning and reusing depleted cartomizers. I followed a link to YouTube and viewed several videos on how to clean cartomizers. Cleaning the used cartomizers can revive them but most importantly, the cleaning process removes the old e-juice and you end up with a cartomizer that has been refreshed and can be used with other flavors of e-juice - without mixing the taste of the new e-juice with the new e-juice flavors you might be trying.

I used the cleaned cartomizers to try out different e-juice flavors to see if I like them - before putting the new e-juice in my new vaping system. That saves me the trouble of having to clean the e-juice flavors I don't care for from my "good" cartomizers in my new vaping system (Joye eGo).

I'm sure the experienced members of this forum already know that you could clean cartomizers and reuse them - but as a noob I did not. I cleaned a bunch of my used cartomizers and tried some new e-juice flavors in them. Many of the new e-juice flavors I did not care for and I'm glad that I did not fill my "good" cartomizers with those juices.

Anyway, I thought I would pass this on in case other new members were like me - not aware used cartomizers could be cleaned - and more importantly, how to clean them. You can do a forum search for "How to clean cartomizers) and find the information I did (if not, PM me and I will provide the YouTube video link on cleaning cartomizers).
BTW, if you do not want to use the cleaned cartomizers for the same purpose I did, you can use them in the system they came from. My cleaned cartomizers draw better, the e-juice tastes much better and now and you can reuse the cleaned cartomizers in the vaping e-cig they came from. If you are buying filled cartomizers, you can refill your own cartridges with e-juice (MUCH cheaper and remarkably easy to do).
Happy Vaping!

I should have mentioned that the thread I found here on the Forms was posted by Member "highping". Excellent thread and the first post contains a list of steps to clean cartomizers (contributions my other ECF members).

Just copy and paste the link into your browser. highping's thread is located at:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

The videos on YouTube that were most helpful to me on the cleaning of cartomizers was posted by YouTube poster "DoctorVapor" Watching DoctorVapor show and explain the cleaning steps were easy to follow and so easy that I summoned up the courage to try the cleaning techniques DoctorVapor explained and showeed in his videos.

There are several videos posted and the title of the Videos were:
"Care and Feeding of Cartomizers Part 1" (Part 2, 3 etc.)
DoctorVapor's first video is located on YouTube at (cut and paste)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y10Xeiudydc&feature=related

I advise you to read highping's first post for essential information, and to watch DoctorVapor's first 3 videos on:
"Care and Feeding of Cartomizers Part1, Part 2, and Part 3.

Personally, I went with DoctorVapor's cleaning technique which was to use boiling water. Making certain that the filler inside the cartomizers are COMPLETELY DRY iafter cleaning is ESSENTIAL. DoctorVapor's videos show his exact technique and that is the one I used. Again, cleaning is easy DRYING is ESSENTIAL.

One ECF Member posted in "highping's" thread that he uses Rubbing alcohol to clean his cartomizers and by doing that the member claims that the entire cleaning process with alcohol took them only 5 minutes - including drying time.

My post DOES NOT explain the cleaning process so PLEASE read highping's Thread/Post and/or DoctorVapor's Videos on YouTube for complete cleaning information.

I will still stand by my statement that the cleaning process is very easy. Just follow the information and watch DoctorVapor's YouTube first 3 videos on the subject.

Have Fun!

JR
