Greetings all,

I've been smoking (analogs) for about 22yrs. Most of that time has been 1.5-2ppd of Camel Lights Kings.

I can't seem to figure out the dosage ratings for the e-cigs. In particular, V4L's system. I believe Camel Lights (Blues, now) are about 0.7mg/cig. How does that compare to V4L's Kamel cartos that are labelled 4mg on a pack of 5 or the 30ml juice that's marked 36mg?!?

Thanks,
Ken

The level of nicotine you want in your juice is going to be pretty subjective and end up a matter of personal taste. I was a two pack/day smoker of Virginia Slims Ultra Lights, and so 18 seemed to be a good starting point. However, in two months I've got that down to 6-10. I would suggest if you're just starting out that you get a variety of levels, anywhere and everywhere from 12-36, and find the one that works for you. There are noticeable symptoms to let you know that you've got the nic too high (headache, jitteriness) and so then you know to dial it down. If you're interested in quitting smoking, some people find it handy to keep a higher nic juice around even when they normally vape at lower levels in case they get a 'hankerin' for a cigarette, and for some people a hit of the higher nic juice helps get them over that.

Much like the PG/VG ratios and flavors, even nic tends to be a matter of individual choice.

EDIT: Initially I tended to follow the vendor's guidelines. If they labeled something as "high", I just went with that (I'm a trusting soul).

i tend to chain vape... started out with a medium 16 - 18 mg/mL and it was way too much for me. now i use low 8 - 12 mg/mL and just vape medium in the morning with my coffee. it takes a bit of experimentation to get nailed down what you like... and thankfully there are many vendors out there producing flavors and nic levels that will be just right for you :)

Ken, it sounds like your smoking habit was a lot like mine. I first started vaping 11 and 16 mg but they didn't completely satisfy my cravings and I was vaping non-stop. Somewhere on this forum a person suggested going up one or two more levels in nicotine to see if it made a difference in cravings, so I ordered some 18 and 24 mg juices and blank cartos to load. The 24 mg is perfect for me during the day; I no longer feel unsatisfied after vaping through a carto nonstop, and I vape an 18 mg carto in the evening so that I'm not too wired to get to sleep. Maybe if you tried a similar protocol, and tried 18, 24, 36 mgs to start with you can approximate your analog usage levels based on your experience with the different levels in ejuice. IMHO it's a more effective way of determining "low, medium, high" nic levels.

The best thing about all of this is that your nic consumption is totally under YOUR control. A little a lot or none at all, and still enjoy the experience of 'replacement smoking'. Its not unusual to have various strengths available at home (inc zero nic) for different times of the day or mood or requirement.
You can play it by ear a lot of the time too - I started on 24mg (way too much lol I smoked ultralights for the last 10 years of a 22 year habit) then went down to 18 and 12 (12 is my daily). I even have 0 nic as there ARE times when I jsut want the 'smoking experience' without the nicotine input.
I have found most vendors 12mg works for me (ie it doesnt seem to vary much between sellers) unless they label things weirdly (like low/med/high) then I go for medium and vape less if its a bit strong (ifound some vendors ;low; is 6-8mg which is to low for me for everyday vaping)

Thanks everyone for your input.

I just needed a sanity check. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something since I had got some V4L 4 & 8mg cartos and still having serious cravings. I know why that is now and have since ordered some 24mg juice and blank cartos. I think those will be much closer to my desired level and be able to satiate my cravings.

I had the same issues. I was using 'high' greensmoke carts and found they weren't quite enough (I think they are 8mg) ... love the vanilla flavour though. I have since moved on to using a KR808D-1 during the day and initially had some 36mg carts - way too high for me!! Now I use 11-14mg liquid in my KR8 during the day and at home in the evenings when I just want a nice tasty flavour I sometimes use my greensmoke with medium or high carts.

I'm thinking the 24mg may be doing ok for now, but I've got a few 36mg liq's on the way to try. I think my actual problem may be an additional addiction to one of the 1000's of chemicals in analogs. Basically, I think I'm going to keep up a few analogs a day for now until I can figure out what it is. Hopefully I can get completely off the analogs in the next couple weeks.

Thanks again everyone for the responses.

Happy Vaping!!!

I usually just drink a cup of 36mg juice in the morning to kick-start my day.

Note: I don't actually drink a cup of juice in the morning, as that would probably kill me. I do vape a higher strength in the morning(24mg), though, as it replaced my three cigarette start to the day. Then I go with lower 16mg for the rest of the day. When I first started I figured the higher the better and tried using 24mg for the entire day on the assumption that I was hopelessly addicted to nicotine. It made me feel like crap. I'm thinking of cutting the strength back even at 16mg, as I vape more than I smoked.

Yeah, I find myself vaping considerably more than I smoked analogs. I'm not sure if I'm chasing the nicotine buzz or what?!? It just doesn't seem as satisfying...which is what leads me to think I have an addiction to something else in analogs. I've been killing a couple of cartos with 20 drops of 24mg liq in 5-6 hours. That and I'm recovering from a back surgery a couple weeks ago and trying to wean myself off the hydrocodone - so who knows - I probably have withdrawals from multiple sources messing with my bod right now?!?
