You know, it's hard (if not impossible) to find small hole saws for plastic... like atty size. Many of us use regular drill bits and swear a lot if we break the plastic, or we make a hole saw. You can file teeth into, say, a 1/2" thin walled pipe for larger buttons. Or use an old dead battery and file a few teeth on the end of that for atomizer connector holes. Go slow.

Dremels work for some things, a reamer helps too. Start with a smaller hole and ream it out. (so I hear... I don't use one). You get the idea........

I find I use my Dremel more for sanding and cutting than hole drilling with e-cigs. They do have a nice set of very small drill bits tho.

Hello, I'm just getting into the creative world of mods. Just wondering if a variable speed dremel is sufficient enough to make cut outs in plastic and metal cases? I'm sure some of you modders have access to machine shops and such. What type of tools are you using?

Absolutely.

Best Dremel for cutting plastic boxes is a tile bit

Cuts like it's butter. Also, get a universal chuck

Thanks Guys! Yeah, I did my first mod yesterday with the diy kit from Madvapes, so it already had the cutouts. After the satisfactions of accomplishing something I love to use, I ordered all the parts to make 3 more, but no cutouts on the boxes. I'm just afraid of cracking the box. Just picked up a variable speed dremel from walmart and I think I can do the reaming technique. Thanks for the lead on that drill bit Parallex2.

Always start with a small drill bit as a pilot hole and work up in drill bit size.

yeah that is sound advice, and I would add to use as low a speed as you can while still getting a smooth cut. too low and the bit can "grab", too high will melt the box...
