I drink a fair amount of alcohol; not something i'm proud of, but it is what it is and i've been working on a moderation regimen. I read a lot here about how vaping dries you out, though, and it's concerning me a bit. While I drink a lot of beer/wine, I also probably drink a gallon or so of water a day; sometimes less, sometimes more. Even still, I've noticed since I started vaping the following physical changes:

1.) Worsened heartburn/dyspepsia (i already take prilosec daily to prevent this but it's been breaching through)
2.) Sore tongue; kinda feels like it was scorched by hot coffee.
3.) Left-sided headache...?

This thread is a bit nonspecific, but I'm wondering who else drinks while they vape, and if they notice that it bothers them in any way.

Simple solution, also very effective to avoid hangovers ( well not entirely, but huge help anyways): Couple spoonfuls of magnesium and some vitamin D + 0,5 litres of water before you go to sleep. If you're in condition that you remember to do that lol.

Hangover symptoms comes pretty much from dehydration, and yes, vaping causes little dehydration too.

I'd second the water recommendation -- when i started vaping i got some serious headaches, and id venture to say most if not all were from dehydration. i now drink about 10-15 20oz portions of water a day (sounds ridiculous i know but when you constantly refill your water bottle it adds up) and i vape about 5-7ml a day, and no headaches

that being said, i dont drink anymore, so i cant comment on how booze might affect things except to say it surely calls for even more water!

that being said, i think some of us get headaches and weird other symptoms when going cold turkey cig to vape because of all the nasty stuff our body is both craving and purging...

power through, and maybe try some sinus headache otc meds for the headaches...those helped me

keep calm and vape on!

Hmm...do you guys think it's because I'm so new to vaping? I've vaped "other" things in the past for years, but the e-liquid/e-cigarette thing is very new to me.

Also as for my smoking history; next to a pack a day for 6 or 7 years until i quit at 22, then off and on smoking but nothing major until the past 4 months where i've been regular again (4-8 a day). Switched to vaping on Friday night and haven't had a smoke since, which I suppose is something to be happy for even though I'm having these symptoms.

I'm shocked you're experiencing worsened heartburn/dyspepsia.. I had the WORST heartburn/acid reflux when I was smoking cigs and that completely disappeared when i switched to the vape. Don't quote me on this but I've heard smoking increases stomach acid by 7x... That's too bad cutting back on the cigs didn't relieve you from this like it did for me. Also I would somewhat be blaming quitting smoking for the headache, even though I switched to vaping I still felt some withdrawal including headaches

@sk8man121 - see my tag below for my vape experience. Have been drinking beer & wine a long time. Shoe horn in some shots of Tiquila and along with vaping you have my evening. No problems with alcohol and vaping. Vape all day long. Using 18mg/ and anywhere from 30 - 50% VG.

You are drinking plenty of water.
Don't know your ejuice mg but you might want to tune it down a notch. (what mg are you at?)
What is your ratio pg/vg. Maybe your body is sensitive to one of these ingredients.

Give us more details.

Keep us posted please!

Well truth be told I ate some serious, SERIOUS jambalaya last night, and..um...a lot of it. :p

At the moment, it's this tongue soreness thing that's really annoying.

Ahhhh and the truth comes out... im jealous

Also I'd say give the tongue soreness some time.. maybe change your juice.. and if it doesn't go away then I'd start to blame the vaping... maybe the serious jambalaya did something lol

Oh, somebody might be ready to move up in the vaping world to a variable voltage gizmo? Take a deep breath and see if you have some expendable income to invest to save your tongue and throat from the Irritating Vaping Experience (IVE). For less than a carton of cigarettes you can find your way through the maze of gadgetry in order to find a vape that will meet or exceed your desire for nicotine. You have come to the forum that will help you find all your answer to the questions of vaping.

Please ask away Janbalaya Kid!

I really like the simplicity of the VOLT e-cig, though. It seems to satisfy my nic-wise, and the plug-and-play aspect of it is exactly what I need (I have a pretty hectic work schedule as a freelance writer). Plus I did a fair amount of research before jumping in and it seemed to me that the VOLT 78 mm KR808 was a good look.

Interesting side note on the tongue thing. I used to be able to eat the hottest of the hottest (like munching broken glass) spiciness. I put one of the numerous hot sauces we keep on everything. Well, once my tastes started coming back (you're taste and sense of smell go back to normal after not smoking for a while - which is really nice) but meant that I can not take the same level of heat in food.

I hope it works out for you.

@JK, for you will always be known to me from now on as JK, :)

Me thinks your vaping experience or lack of a good experience is due to a lot of hot peppers from your previous nite's outing which have nothing to do with your vaping. Call me wrong or call me crazy but me thinks you will be enjoying a good vape tomorrow on the setup that you have chosen. If you are looking (and really,if you are here, who's not) please feel free to ask how to make your vaping experience more than you thought ever possible.
Have fun and hope you feel better!

Happy Holidays to one and all!

Hi, I know there is a thread in the Infozone on the effects of quitting smoking. What you are experiencing isn't new, it is a symptom of the withdrawal of tobacco. There are a LOT of chemicals other than nicotine in those cigarettes you inhaled for years. Quitting smoking gave me mouth sores, and drinking water helped but you just have to detox.

The ETOH wouldn't be a factor except the dehydration aspects of it. I drink a LOT of water these days, and if I don't I do notice it in my mouth and throat. Another thing you may want to be on the lookout for is PG sensitivity. I find if I vape high PG I get a "heavy" feeling on the throat.

Congrats on quitting, and welcome to the forum.
