Direct dripping has a cleaner taste to it than using a cart. And using a drip tip allows you to drip juice right through it without having to take anything off, while providing a mouth piece to protect your lips from a hot atomizer. A drip tip is basically a contoured tube.

Personally, I found dripping to be a lot of hassle. 2-3 drops is all it can take, and it only lasts about 10 puffs before you have to drip again.

But when I removed the bridge from an atomizer (called "direct coil" dripping), I really started to see the point in it. So now, sometimes I drip while at home.

Between direct coil dripping and cartomizers, my carts are collecting dust.

Question for drippers who have also used the new ceramic E2 R4 carto's how big of a difference is the taste between them and dripping?

Huge. They taste very, very different.

But, strangely, they both taste like the real flavor is coming through. I think the CE2's are a little sharper in taste, while atomizers are a little "darker" but both taste quite pure to me.

In fact, direct coil dripping and CE2's are now what I vape 80% of the time. And that seems to go up every day... if I had more CE2's, it would be 100%.

Good to know I picked up a pack of CE2's last week and ordered 2 more packs along with a drip tip today. The CE2's were a nice bump up in taste from the regular carto's so I was curious if I'd get the same effect again with dripping.

I understand that attitude. Frankly, I only got into dripping because my first PV was an underperformer unworthy of the acronym, and the only way I could get anything out of it was to toss the cart and drip.

Here's the thing, though: once operating a manual transmission has forged neural passageways and no longer requires conscious thought, you're essentially driving an automatic; the automation is embedded in your mind.

The same thing works for dripping.

I'm sorry, I'm not even really sure what a drip tip is. Could someone enlighten me? Just perused the library and couldn't find anything.

It's essentially a tube with a hole in it.

walkindown33 - As PoliticallyIncorrect's picture shows, it's a tube with a hole. The purpose of it is to provide a comfortable mouth piece that protects your lips from the heat of the atomizer, while providing the convenience of being able to drip right into it without removing anything.

jctgh - The bridge isn't necessary for the atomizer to work well, but it IS necessary for using a cart. The bridge is what wicks the liquid down from the filler in the cart. So once you remove the bridge, that atomizer can only be used for dripping.

But, once you remove the bridge, it increases performance in several ways.

1. Less wasted juice, since the bridge isn't absorbing it. It takes 4-8 drops to prime an intact 510 atomizer. It only takes 2 or 3 drops to prime a bridgeless 510 atomizer.

2. More airflow to the atomizer, resulting in warmer vapor, and more of it. The "warmer" thing is what REALLY sold me. My main gripe with atties had always been that the vapor was too cold. Removing the bridge fixed that.

3. For me personally, it seems that because of the exposed coil with increased airflow, they are easier to clean completely and less likely to die from "heat death" when dry-burning them.

4. They perform more consistently for me, since the juice goes right on the coil immediately, rather than getting caught up in the bridge.

5. It's tastier. Since it's easier to get the atomizer squeeky clean, and there's nothing but the coil in there, you're getting the purest juice taste humanly possible.

Here is a great video that shows how to remove the bridge.

Thanks so much, Mistress! So, I just ordered my first kit (I'm using my husband's until it gets here.) Do you recommend that I take the bridge out of one of the attys and keep the other intact?

I would have at least 2 intact spares before you take one apart... It went pretty smoothly for me, but until you really do it... ya know, to be safe. There have been people who accidentally pull the wiring out while trying to de-bridge for the first time. This can be avoided if you're careful but, well, it happens.

The only reason I was willing to do it the first time with a perfectly good atty is that I mostly use cartos. Incidentally, de-bridging that atty has changed that for me and now I'm using that atty a lot! But now that I've done it once, I have more confidence I won't screw up the next one.

lol that's an easy solution...since you're using his til yours shows up....just rip the bridge out of one of his to see how you like it....that way if you don't you still have yours in tact ...lol....

in all seriousness though...don't know what model you're using...and I can only speak on what I'm using and like...
I started with a 510....dealt with carts for a while (still do on occasion)....tried cartos and really didn't like them (everything tasted to muddled to me)...
started dripping on a 510 and much prefered that...though it is kinda a hassle
discovered the 306 atty (it fits a 510 thread) but is an exposed bridge but has a absolutely sucky cart...so excellent for dripping and dipping...
now I'm primarily using a 306 with bridge removed 80% of the time....and either a 306 or a 510 with cart the rest of the time...
even better would be a bottom tube feeder with a bridgeless 306...but that's getting advanced...
bottom line if you're considering dripping and a drip tip, and like the 510...try a bridgeless 306 with a drip tip...

*aditional note as a disclaimer... the 306 is shorter and won't fit on an eGo with the cone...this can be remedied by using an eGo to 510 mains charging adapter like these: eGo charger adapter and then the 306 under the cone to extend it's length

*also you can get some pretty drip tips expecially in the 306 ones to bling it up a bit...

Couldn't help myself here. I will change "pretty" to "cool" drip tips and here ya go:
Colored and Twisted 306 Drip Tips

He also has 510's like this. I use LR306's w/4 in rotation and use these different DT's so I know which flavor goes with which atty. You can find cheaper DT's but I have yet to find one that is of better quality. Enjoy and vape on

I started dripping from Day 1- last Thrusday and love it. It gives my hands lots of things to do. I like to keep them busy so they don't want to wander to my husband's cigs for something to do:) The lil routine makes me happy- carrying my lil 6ml flavors and dripping whenever I want a good puff.

The taste is wonderful. I'm dripping right onto the atty and tailpiping it- not using a tip or cart to suck through. I like that it gets hot because it feels like a real cig on my lips. And I don't know if it's cus I'm using thick 100% VG but 1 drop is perfect for me on my 510 atty. I get 7-8 HUMONGOUS plumes of smoke before I top it off again. 2 or 3 drops make it leak around the threads and I had sticky fingers:)

Sigh. Everything I write about dripping sounds off-colored and pornographic. I don't know how to make it sound G rated LOL!
