so I've been trying to quit nicotine completely, and although my move to vapor has made me more healthy, I am currently ingesting quite a bit more nicotine than before, because I can smoke the equiv. of 4 cigs in a row, without even thinking about it.

So to quit, I have had to drip. that way, I can only smoke a little less than a cig's worth before having to drip a little more. Not to mention the ease of not refilling carts. Just an atty, battery, and cap, and bring a little travel dropper with me.

Anyone else had probs taking on more nic because of a 50 puff cart?
How do you control how much nic? Count your puffs, drip, or what?

I drip also....1 tip...always carry a spare atty...To control nic intake as said above regulate your mg level...I really like the doublers at V4L. Many juice companies have 0mg that cuts down mg without cutting flavor. I started with 36/24mg and am now at 24/12mg and presently at the 6 week mark....Maybe you get more nic but I doubt it. Analogs are very efficient at getting nic into your bloodstream. I'm no doctor and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night but I don't think vaping delivers the nic like smoking......YMMV

I don't worry about my nic intake or anything. I know I won't overdose, and If I feel any malaise, I just stop vaping. It doesn't really happen tho.

Anyway, your drip technique sounds like a good way to regulate your nic intake. To keep even more on top of it, mark yo bottles with 5 lines, or however many you want. That way, you can start at (for example) 8ml and you will know how much you have used by the end of the day.

You have to take more puffs from an e-cigarette to get the same amount of nicotine as a real cigarette.

I've never seen a good scientific study, but what I've seen suggests it's about 6 times as many puffs, using 26 mg. liquid.

This agrees with my experience fairly closely.

So don't feel so bad about puffing away. Your nicotine consumption isn't as high as you think !

Yeah, I'd like to know how come you think you are getting more nicotine.
You said something about equilvalence to a cigarette, but are you sure you know for sure?

And yes, dripping is a good way to limit your intake if you want to.

I like to drip so that I have a solid start and end point for vaping.
For me, that is useful in simulating a smoke break.

Oh, yeah, and MAKE SURE to sign the petition linked in my signature below!!!
At least if you don't want THEM to take your electronic cigarettes away.

I think an analog gives about 1 or 2 mg. of nicotine. The patch slings about 21 mg over 24 hrs, equivalent of a pack a day.. So if I've got 24mg. juice, and my cart holds 1/2 ml, if I vape 3 carts a day, I'm smoking like pack and a half.. So no, you can't vape all day, you will just be even more hooked.

I don’t necessarily agree with this statement that 3 small carts of 24mg e-liquid are the equivalent to a pack and a 1/2 of analogs, I don’t think it's even close, just my opinion and not looking for an argument over that. I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 25 yrs and there is just no way that three to four carts of 24mg nic juice deliver the same amount of nic as 1-1/2-2 packs of analogs do. I however would love to see a REAL scientific factual study that’s been completed with the REAL results documented to actually be able to know for sure. This way we all would know the facts of just how much Nic our bodies injected compared to our old smoke habits.

get 16 mg juice or something.

from my bottles ive found that 30 drops is 1ML. i use 18MG and i fill 3 carts everyday with 10 drops each.

Theoretically,
i get 18MG from my 1ML, anywhere between 18 and 9 cigs a day.
I sya theoretically because not all the nicotine is delivered to me(not sure where it gets lost but it does) and no one acutally gets the whoel cart completely empty.

how do you figure? and im not trying to start a fight either...but what says its not? what feeling are you missing that you pinpoint to a difference in nicotine levels?

There is a lot of disagreement about how much nicotine we absorb via vaping, but your numbers above are based on 100% absorption. If there is one thing we DO seem to know, beyond all the disagreement, it is that we don't absorb anywhere near 100% of the nicotine via vaping.

There are those that argue we only get about 10% based on previous studies, and there are those that argue we get around 40% based on their own experimentation and testing.

Hope this helps ease your mind.

From the New Zeland study:
http://www.healthnz.co.nz/DublinEcigBenchtopHandout.pdf

Page 2: (Nicotine delivery per puff)

Nicotine delivery per puff
A 35 mL puff from
the Ruyan® V8 delivers only 10% of the nicotine
obtained from a similar puff of a Marlboro regular
cigarette. Deeper 50 mL puffs from the Ruyan V8

delivers only slightly more nicotine.

Also from page 2:

Nicotine dose (Figure 2) An e-cigarette user will
need to take more puffs more often, and deeper
puffs confer no advantage for V8 users. Six puffs
every 5 minutes would deliver the same dose of
nicotine delivered by shallow inhaling (10 puffs of
35 mL per puff) from one tobacco cigarette every
hour, but would not achieve the high immediate
nicotine boost which many smokers crave.
Nicotine overdose is unlikely, even though
nicotine delivery may vary between brands.
