a few little questions. I actually like dripping my 3 mg nic in max better even than vaping. I drip using 3 mg nic on a Istick 50 watt set about 23 watts with a draw of about 2.5 seconds and the coils reading says 1.6 ohms and the air holes blocked a tad on the el diablo bael. I vape on the Istick 20 watts somewhere around 7 to 8 watts on factory coil of 1.8 in a nautilaus mini
my questions: 1) does sub ohm in a rebuildable tank give flavour similar to a dripper
drippers seem to require higher watts is this in anyway suggested as less healthy ( I am not too concerned about the increased supposed formaldehyde issue I believe Dr F had issue with the research and in my opinion I probably breathe more formaldehyde off gassing wandering around carpets and insulation and pressboard)
2) the nic level is quite a bit lower in the dripper Does this actually translate to a drop in nicotine/contine levels in my blood in other words would I need to drip more to keep my nic levels somewhat reasonable re setting off " the I want a smoke brain run"
3 if I were to drip only for 3 or 4 days am I likely to find my 12 mg vape to strong

thanks for any insight you might provide

Well to answer a few questions.

1. I find that rebuilding my rba on my subtank mini to have about the same flavor as my tugboat. I actually like RTAs a lot more since I'm not having to constantly drip. The flavor is a tad better on the tugboat, but unnociable if I'm not side by side comparing them. As for the health question, I'm not too sure

2. Most of the time when you begin venturing into sub ohming, you drop your nic levels because you are going to produce a ton more vapor than say a nautilus. So you're getting way more nic. As for your question it's kinda subjective per person. If you crave more just use more nicotine. If you vape more at 3mg than you do at 6mg, it may actually be the same amount of nicotine because you're chain vaping the 3, where it's only a few amounts of 6 here and there.

3. This is also subjective. When you start dripping some people drop their nic level especially if they are building sub coils. I however did not. I started out building on the subtank mini, and I stayed at 12. The first few days I could only take a few toots, and I'd get a buzz so I'd put it down. So I decided to drop to 6 and I found myself chain vaping way more and going through tons of juice. So I stayed at 12, and eventually the buzzes stopped, and I was getting my fix. This is great because now I take like 10 toots an hour and I'm good for another hour or two. Of course unless I'm on here, I chain vape anyways, no matter the nic :D

I hope this helped!

OK, I'll go against the class on this one I guess. I disagree entirely that tanks can produce the same flavor you will get from an RDA if you set it up correctly. Tanks are great for their ease of use and convenience (fill and go) but I just flat out disagree that they produce the same flavor intensity you can get from direct dripping.

I help out in a local B&M store sometimes and I can't tell you how often I have let the guys that own the shop try a juice I am vaping on one of my mods with an RDA only to have them say the put it in a tank and were totally disappointed with the flavor after tasting in my rig.

This is just my experience and nothing more, no offense intended.

Drippers are not more flavorfull than tanks. In fact do to the restricted chambers and airflows, tank can have BETTER flavor than dripper at lower power levels. Most dripper being geared to the cloud generation rather than the taste.
I can only compare my nautilaus mini and the little dripper I have and there is a ten fold difference in flavour between the two at least for me

I have some great sub ohm tanks but haven't used them much and went back to dripping. The flavor has always been better for me by dripping. And I don't consider myself trying to be a cloud chaser but do love a .5 ohm coil at about 25 watts or so. My favorite flavors never taste as good in a tank as they do on my dropper. I know some love the tanks and everyone likes different, but that's just been my experience. I rather be inconvenienced and continue dripping. Even before all the tanks or before rebuild able drippers existed, I preferred dripping on a standard prebuilt atomizer rather than a cartomizer or clearomizer, if you remember those days. Lol.

I can say the flavour on the dripper is ten times more potent but I do need to put the dial at about 20 to 22 watts I tried turning it Down to vape at 10 watts but I would have to hold the button in for at least a few seconds or so before the coils even heat up. I built hese coils myself out of kanthal I believe 28 gauge there are two coils in the dripper and they read 1.6 ohms on the Istick 50 and the ohm reader the wick material is organic Japanese cotton . I guess I am trying to determine where the flavour comes from. At 10 watts i have to hold the button in for at least three seconds to get any vape if I crank the Istick 50 up to 22 watts I get vape at 1.8 seconds Draw . I am not trying to get anything other than a strong flavour and whether there is a little cloud or a big cloud wouldn't really matter Just trying to wrap my head around what is responsible for the flavour . I understand taste is subjective from one person to another but I would assume my taste should be able to be defined by something specific to me

thank you but I have only been vaping three months (smoked tobacco for 40 years) and I much prefer the taste of the dripper but of course I carry the mini with me when I am out and about

Caro123, when I use my istick, I set my watts for whatever equals 3.7 volts and that is usually where I like it. You can see the small voltage reading on the screen as you adjust it and try to get it to whatever wattage equals 3.7 volts. Some prefer a higher wattage but that's usually a good starting point for whatever coil you are using. And as far as flavor, when I build my coils and feed my wick through, I tuck the edges underneath the coils but try to leave an open space directly underneath my coils for better air flow. Then line up your air holes on the top cap right next to those same holes in the cotton under your coils and make sure you have plenty of airflow. It takes a little practice to figure out just the right amount of cotton. Too much cotton cuts down on the airflow and can deteriorate the flavor, and too little cotton doesn't wick the juice as good and deteriorates the flavor.

Yeah try around with anywhere from 12-17. Everyone I've ever known (in person) has found their sweet spots in those ranges. I myself vape the istick at 22.5 or 24.5. I have a subtank with the air holes all the way open and I do a quick lung hit, or a quick mouth to lung. Most of the time less than 3 seconds. But I will warn you, when dripping be very very careful not to get juice near the connection or the button. That's what can cause an auto firing on that and you'll have to disconnect your whole tank/dripper and clean it well to stop.

I actually have not used my istick 50w since I picked up an mvp 3.0. The battery life isn't as great (still 3+ days) but I feel more safe with it. It feels more reliable and my hands are too big for the curves of the istick. :p

If you have 1.6 in dual 28 g coils that is serious wire overkill. I would be surprised if even 50 watts can power that effectively I run 28 in duals for about .4-.5 lol and it runs decent at 25 watts, your talking about 3x that amount of wire

it is two coils and the total combined reading is 1.6 ohms are you saying that if I could build coils that would show as say 0.5 ohms that it would take less watts to fire it? would the Istick 50 fire coils was 0.5 ohms I don't believe the 20 watt would

that

Right what I'm saying is if each coil is 3.2 ohms that is pretty high for a 28 g coil and that's a lot of wire.

After a certain point with each gauge you hit a point when reaction time vs power is unbalanced as you add more and more wire.. Even if you brute force the coil with extreme power, the benefit of using that gauge is lost to excess heating time and prolonged cooldown.

This is also why you see these huge .2 ohm coils being driven with 60-70 watts in subohm setups, they are forced to over power the coil simply by design to get it to even react

Just off hand, I don't think I would go above 2 ohms with 28 and that's high.
You should see a better result with a 1 ohm total though.

I have one Atty I'm at .4 on a mech, I press the button and the coil is red almost instantly, because there is hardly any wire in the way. same with my .6 single - instant cloud.

In the end rebuilding becomes more then just wrapping some coil, for very best results its a balancing act.

thank you very much thrasher I shall try to make two less ohms coils I was just so thrilled to finally make coils that would work the first 4 or five kept reading too low to fire I have changed the cotton a couple of times but not the coils I shall try to make less ohms ones

i use an istick eleaf 50 watt also and my duals average .5 or .6 ohms and it works great with plenty of extra power to spare. I Vape around 24 watts. To Vape at 1.6 ohm, you would be better off with just a single coil at 1.6 ohms but yeah, my favorite is about .5 ohms dual. And I'm not sure how many wraps you will need with 28 gauge but with 26 gauge I use about 6-7 wraps each. 28 gauge wire will make the ohms higher so if you find you prefer to use less wraps, you might want to try some 26 gauge eventually. Plus I tended to tighten my screws a bit too tight sometimes and the 28 would snap and break, but the 26 is slightly thicker and doesn't break as easy for me.
