I personally find syringes to be far too much hassle, and not much more effective that topping a cart with a dropper. If you're using a pen style then there might be some advantage, but it's always been minimal in my experience.

Like dc2k08, I only use them for squeezing old carts now; even then I rarely bother! I figure once a cart has been topped for 4 days, I probably don't want whatever residue is left.

I usually use the same cart for anywhere between 1-3 days. 1 day might be optimum. just top it up with liquid when it's getting dry and repeat as necessary. you can continue to buy more carts or just wash them out and the filler out. (haven't done this yet)

there might be an advantage in filling a penstyle cart up with a syringe as they are longer and you can get down into them with a needle. but really I don't think it is necessary. the liquid will seep down if placed with a dropper.

NYY,
First the Cleaning Cycle, sounds good, but its the Bain of the E-cig world.
If you see the LED flashing for no reason, or hear a sizzleing sound, unscrew the battery ASAFP.
It can over heat the Atomizer and it can Burn the Wick leaving it with a bad taste for a while, it can even singe or melt the cart stuffing makeing the taste even worse.

Next, Dripping (putting a couple drops directly onto the atomizer) can be done with practice. You cont want to over fill it, and you dont want to smoke it dry. Both are possible if you dont watch doing it that way.
Over filling, it can leak down into the battery, thus, gumming up the switch, or battery, or sometimes even shorting it out all together. If you just use a couple drops that normally wont happen, but then you can only hit it a couple times, before needing to drip a few more drops before its dry.
Topping off the cartr is still the best way. For myself, if i hit it about 30+ times, it then takes about 5-6 drops to refill the carts. You can get a couple days without rinseing out the cart stuffing, but if it gets hairy/ratty/or gummy, throw it out and start a new cart.
Useing a Syringe is best for filling a New nerver filled cart for the first time, push the needle down to the bottom, the fill till the cart is full. Its also used to squeeze out the last bit of juice left over in the stuffing. You only ever ues about 2/3rds and there is always some left you can recycle with the syringe. There is a Video on this is the Noob Help section.

Cleaning the atmizer can be done a couple ways.
The easiest, ive wrote dozens of times.
Thumb on the battery end, use warmwater, or alcohol, water/viniger mix, or just distilled water, put some in the cart end, cover with finger, and shake well, then blow through the atomizer from the battery end to get out loosened gunk, stand and let dry, or use a hair dryer for faster drying. Canned air Can work, if carfull. Drip a couple drops into the atomizer to prime it, add cart and continue.
If that dont work, normally nothing will. Some use steam in the cart end to clean it, some boil it, till hot, not melted. otheres soak it in cleaning mixes.
No matter the way, let dry and re-prime it before useing again.

Only time you really need to clean/rinse out your stuffing is if it gets gummed up, or you want to clean a flavor or bad flavor out of it.

Think that covers it all :D

you dont have to clean out your atomizer to drip. There are two kind of dripping - topping up a cart and dripping directly onto the atomizer's bridge. this used to be also known as "dry-smoking" but now it seems "dripping" is used for both actions.

the auto-cleaning feature does not work well. has it happened to your device yet? there are some techniques people use to clean the atomizer. these include boiling or using some kind of steamer. you need to dry them afterwards, perhaps with a hair-dryer or on a radiator or something.

it is a good idea to prime the atomizer after a clean to moisten the fibre within it. the idea of cleaning the atomizer is to reduce the build-up of crud from the liquid on the fiber. once this goes crusty with hardened residue - your att is a pancake.

The M series type of e-cig apparently have no auto cleaning feature.

i dont use the "drysmoking" term so much anymore-because i was afraid that any reading newbie would think that it meant smoking a dry atomiser/smoking an atomiser dry....neither of which you wanna do when drysmoking...so now i usually say dripsmoking...

you know how baffled and confused people new to esmoking are starting out...no point in confusing them further...
