I've been thinking of getting a dripping topper lately. I pretty much exclusively use carto tanks now, and while there is no building involved, they do take some time to set up. While I have yet to come across a completely unvapeable juice, there were a couple I've gotten from Zamplebox that I wouldn't have bothered with. Also, another poster just posted about some of his older juices losing taste over time, and I imagine I've got a couple older ones by now I wouldn't like to bother priming a carto for. So, with this in mind, I've decided my next topper purchase should be some sort of dripping atty. Looking for something no more then $30. I've never built a coil before, so if you have some rebuildable options, please keep in mind I have zero experience building and don't have much time to tweak things. I have a brutal, 2 hour commute 5 days a week, so if there's a buy it and toss it option that tastes great, I'm down for that.

I got into RDA, and RBA for the exact same reason. Still love and use my Cartos all day long while at work, but I'm pretty much dripping at night now. All of mine are rebuildables, but I heard a lot about the Cisco dripping atty back in the GoodNews! days. I'm sure someone will be along here shortly that can give you a better answer.

My first rebuildable dripper was a Octopus and it was super easy to do. Currently, I've built (at least once) nearly every dripper under $50 and some above that. My favorite is a Igo L. It's great for a single coil and I can build a really great hitting atty on it using twisted 26 gauge. I would suggest going to a shop and looking for some help with rebuildables. If that's not an option, find something you like the looks of, decide if you're going to go sub-ohm, high ohm, single, dual, quad etc coil and then look up a YouTube video.

If you want a cheep, throw away option, look for a Bridgeless Atomizer. I always liked the Stingray in a 1.5, but that may be preference. Good luck!

I remember GoodNews. Yeah, I've looked at them, however I'm reluctant to try something he was so pleased with....

Well, if it makes you feel any better, i think he only had it working for a glorious 30 minutes or so before he killed it. ;) But i remember in those threads, others also spoke very highly of them, and couldn't figure out how he ruined it so fast. lol

I doubt I'll be getting into sub ohms and quad coils. I'm just looking for a way to try before priming a carto. I use the MVP 2, and it won't fire a sub ohm coil anyway. If I didn't have the commute that I do, plus two kids and a husband, I can see getting into it all like that. Maybe one day, but for my life right now, the simpler and faster the better.

I have a couple of RDAs that I use for daily vaping, but for tasting juices I have always used one of these dripping attys. Put a drip tip on it and vape. Rinse out daily and dry burn carefully and rinse when it gets gunked up. I've had one for two years and it's still going strong. Of course, it's probably only seen ten ml of juice in its life ;)

If you find yourself doing more dripping get a 510 to 510 sealed adapter and a drip shield to stop the leaks that will invariably occur as you use the setup. Here's a good explanation of how that works.

Awesome! Thanks. I was wonder what the drip shield was for, and wondering if I'd need one. I think I'd like one, even if I don't wind up dripping a lot. I hate leaks, and I like to keep my devices nice and clean and dry. Liquids and batteries should be kept apart as much as possible in my opinion. I know my MVP's are disposable at the end of the day, but I want them to last as long as they can.

To try liquids I highly recommend an hh 357 they take a little time to break in but once they are they are great and last forever. They cost more than other atomizers (21.99 plus shipping) but we'll worth it. They will outlast most if not all other atomizers and there is no rebuilding. I went with a 1.5 ohm I like a warm vape but you can get other resistances. Watch some youtube videos about them that's how I learned about them.

Either way good luck hope you find what you need.

the super simple and cheap Igo-W or W4 are good to start with. they will come with a very small air hole that you will probably want to drill out larger.

Igo-W $10
21mm

Igo-W4 $11
22mm

many B&M shops sell different top caps for these like frosted clear caps, pyrex glass and I just saw these new caps with air flow control. they have assorted sizes for Igo, Patriot, etc if you ever wanted to "upgrade" it.

I've tried 510s and 306s but for tasting (and for vaping), there is nothing better than a rebuildable atomizer and cotton wick. A small amount of cotton (just enough to fill the coil) is perfect - once you've tasted the juice, just remove the cotton with tweezers, dry burn, and re-wick. It take less than a minute and the flavor/vapor are amazing. Of course this is only as good as the coil you wrap and the air hole adjacent to your coil, but it is far superior to a non-rebuildable dripping atomizer.

A non-rebuldable is going to retain the flavor of the previous juice... there are cleaning methods but they are time consuming and not always effective. A lifetime supply of cotton from CVS is ridiculously cost effective, and the process of wicking, dry burning, and re-wicking is so superior to a 510 that you'll never go back.

Tinkiegrrl,

I totally get where you're at...I also have a 2 hr commute, a husband, big house and two cats (not as time consuming as kids but you get the point). I did get a little RDA to try my hand at dripping and rebuilding. I got it in December, and while I do use cotton for wicks, I just don't have the time to spend learning how to, and getting good at, making coils.

I have 3 hours in the evening to make dinner and relax. Weekends are spent running errands, cleaning, and doing things around the house. Rebuilding I think is not going to be in my future.

I really, really want to start, but can never find the time once I get to thinking about it. What I am doing is buying prewrapped coils and wicking them with cotton. That is easy to do, and is really a great vape.

I got a mini-RDA and pre-wicked coils from Fasttech, the RDA (a squid clone) was $5 and the coils were something like $3.

I'm in the same boat with a daily two hour commute. I currently drip and drive since I'm hooked on the great flavor an RDA provides. However I have an Hcigar kayfun on the way. Found on eBay for $38. May be your solution after learning to build coils. :D:thumbup:

I've pretty much decided that's the way I'm going, but along with my Taifun GT clone that I've got in my FT cart, I think I'm going to get myself an Aurora. Now THAT looks awesome!
