How I managed this accident is irrelevant, what matters is that it happened. I immediately grabbed it by the tank and put it on the table(managed to not burn my hand at least). Blew as much water out of the USB ports as I could, now it's in rice.

Will it work once it dries? Currently, everything is functional, but when firing it, the short circuit protection kicks in after about a second. I assume that this happens because it's still wet inside. Should I give up on it? Are there any dangers of me testing it when it dries or using it if it does start working again? Is the short circuit protection kicking it because it's wet but it should fire normally once it's dry?

Blow it dry with canned air if you have it or wipe off as much of the water as possible and get it into a bag of rice and leave it alone for a day or two.

No canned air, but I did blow it out as well as I can. It's in a bag of rice though, so I'm hoping for the best.

Where is the unlike button :( So sorry that really stinks. Hope it ends up working.

I mean, I'm getting an MVP 3 soon, but I wanted that purchase to be an upgrade, not a replacement =/

Luckily, I bought my fiance an EVOD Mega kit last week(I must say, this is probably the best entry level kit I've used) so at least I'm not left with nothing for now.

once it gets wet ur not supposed to touch any buttons that will turn it on, normally u would remove battery but for the mvp thats not doable.
once wet immediately try to dry it with canned air, blow dryer etc
if u can open it up and blow air through it
pack it in rice in a sealed bag for a couple of days
if u try any of the buttons this will activate the unit and probably create a short and fry it.

Water won't hurt electronics usually. Water and electricity on the other hand. One of my other hobbies used to be rebuilding old arcade machines, and I ran my pac-man PCB though the dish washer with out any detergent to clean it, when I first got it (40 year old arcade machines tend to be filthy)

I dropped my original Provari in the river fishing, pulled it out and took the batteries out, got as much water out as possible, then I drenched it in rubbing alcohol to displace any water left and let it dry. This has happened to me a couple of times and it still workes today.

This is smart. Make sure you're using the 90+% alcohol however!

The rice trick also helps but definitely leave it for a week before trying to fire it to avoid shorting and thus damaging it.
