Dropped VV/VW in the toilet =( Recommend me a backup mod!

Hello ECF, long time lurker first time poster.

So today I sadly dropped my Itaste 3.0 VV/VW in the toilet while I was cleaning one of my iClear 16. Yes, hilarious and sad. I put the unit in a bowl of rice to dry for a couple hours and it seems to be working ALMOST as well as before it took it's bath, but it is acting a bit finicky. I will let it dry in the rice more before using it again, and if it works - great, if not, oh well.

The experience has left me wondering what I would do if something happened to my main mod and I was left with only my V2 starter kit to vape on (Ew!). I began to search for a backup or new primary mod to go along with my iTaste. I have a somewhat limited budget. I got the iTaste VV/VW, and 5 iClear 16's for $40 shipped and it has been worth every penny. I figure I can get a Vamo VV for around $40 including batteries and a charger from fasttech. Which batteries do I want? I take it I want a protected, Li-Ion battery. Are there different amperage ratings for batteries? Anything else I should know about batteries? Anything I should know about a charger? I haven't had to worry about batteries until now, since the iTaste 3.0 has a non-detachable battery, and usb-passthrough.

I am also looking at mechanical mods. They are inexpensive and I admire the simplicity and reliability of them. I've seen youtube videos of people blowing huge clouds out of their mechanical mods (Although I've never seen them use a clearomizer with one) I know my iClear's have a resistance of ~2.0 ohms. If I get a mechanical mod, with a 3.7v battery (Seems to be the standard of Li-ion batteries), will that be the voltage I am vaping at? I find the 'sweet spot' on my VV to be around 4.3v or 8.5 watts. Will I need to use a kick to properly vape my iClear's with a mechanical mod? At this point I don't have much interest in using a RBA, so I'm trying to find something that will work with my current stock of clearomizers.

Get a Vamo, get a mechanical mod, or do something else? Thanks for the help.

Sorry to hear about the itaste. Since you're familiar with innokin products I would recommend an MVP V2 kit. Priced around $50 if you search. Comes with charger, an iClear 30, and charger, everything to get going but juice. It's a passthrough capable battery with a puff counter and VV/VW. I use one daily with an EVOD or the iClear 30. You dont have to worry about replacing batteries because it is a permanent battery. I love the charger since I can charge my MVP and my iphone on the same cable. Just another option if you find you dont want the VAMO which I would also recommend. People with mech mods you've seen blowing huge clouds probably have a sub ohm coil setup. The MVP isnt really capable of that, but the iClear 30 out of the box is a great vape. It's a dual coil like the 16's you have, I use 2.1ohm heads, and I get a lot of vapor production from it.

Thanks for the reply.

My buddy has the MVP and likes it. I am looking to get something with replaceable batteries however. Once the battery dies on it, it's gg for the whole unit - similar to my iTaste. I love the passthrough ability of it, but again the drawback being the unit is permanently attached to the battery. That's why I am curious about mechanical mods, the only thing that can really 'fail' is the battery, aside from some easy to replace hardware that I can get at a hardware store. I already have 5 iClear 16's, with some extra heads, I don't need to get a whole kit including 3.0 ml tanks =) Also, the boxy shape of the MVP isn't really my style. Thank you for the suggestion, though.

Btw, if the MVP is like my iTaste, and I'm quite sure it is, any microUSB cable will charge it.

Ahhh, sounds like the VAMO is what you're looking for. I'm sure you can find threads on great VAMO spec setups in the APV specific forums. Here's a kit from fasttech I think you'd be interested in. http://http://www.fasttech.com/products/1411/10004394/1359402
It comes with everything you'll need to get your VAMO going at $51.54, only downside is you'll want more batteries for when the battery dies.

Well now! I looked at your post thinking I might be able to help you. All of the advice you have received here is solid and nothing I wouldn't have said myself. But I leave here all the wiser for learning from you what to do if I should drop my itaste vv/vw in the toilet! Thanks for the tip on the rice cure! Vape on!

You can do the rice trick with a cell phone too.

The magneto is a nice mech that works good. If you get a vamo. I suggest you buy the body only and buy batts and charger seperate. The ones that come in the kit are not to good.

Yes this was something I should have said specifically. I feel like they charge more when you buy an entire starter kit, including charger and clearomizers (I already have 5 clearos with extra heads). The Vamo V5 separate is $28.62 shipped $28.62 Vamo V5 Variable Voltage/Wattage Mod / APV - chromed brass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping. I figure I can get a 2-pack of 18650, or some combination of an 18650 and a couple 18350's for 10-12 bucks and a universal charger for around $6-7... I just don't know what to get in terms of battery brand/specifications as well as charger specs. I don't want to skimp on batteries obviously, but I don't want to get the kit if the batteries that come with it aren't as good as they could be if I ordered them separately.

The Vamo group is nice but they REALLYreally hate to be dropped. Displays die, chipsets go wonky, and the insulator on the 510 + pin will go mushy with consistant juice exposure. Consider a SVD... handles all 3 battery sizes, you can lock in your settings ( unlike the vamo which will change at the slightest bump of the control buttons) and it just looks sexy...

Yeah after looking more at the SVD it seems a lot nicer looking than the Vamo, definitely has the sex appeal. I'm sure all heavy electronic mods hate to be dropped, lol. Can't the pin be cleaned? I know on my iTaste the pin gets gunked up and I just clean it with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol and it shines like new. It's slightly more expensive, approximately $9 more (~30% more expensive) than the Vamo, but if it can take a bit more of a beating (not that I'm intentionally rough with it, but drops do happen), I think it's a winner. I heard it vapes better than the Vamo too, due to it's higher pulse rate (or something like that?). Is that true?

Gotta leave it in longer than a few hours

If you put power back to it before completely dry...the damage could be irreversable

Leave it in the sealed tupperware bucket for a minimum of 24hrs

Suggestion...why not go for the VV V3 big brother..the MVP2
