Hello All,

I purchased a DID Clone a couple of weeks ago and love it. Beast clounds, mega vapor and throat hit. This is my first RBA and I'm very satisfied with the performance, but there is a slight issue. I seem to be having trouble filling the tank. I'm using a needle tip bottle since the fill hole is rather small, I make sure to leave space for the air to escape and I fill till the fluid rises past the opening. I'll take it out for a few hits and then blah! That horrible burnt taste. I disassembled the DID and, low and behold, the tank was almost empty. I'll fill up the tank while the tops off, put everything back together and the problem is gone. I know it's not a wicking or coil issue, so I'm at a loss. I've thought about widening the fill hole, but wanted to get some feedback before altered the DID. Any advice you may have would be appreciated.

Thank you.

A needle tipped bottle will not work correctly, in my experience. I second Underwhelmed, you need a needle and syringe. If you have no Tractor Supply where you are, many vaping sites sell syringes and blunted needles. Just be sure to either put a layer of packaging tape or clear nail polish over the numbers so they don't rub off. I would also suggest either buying a clear tank for it, or making one out of a syringe. I bought a 12mL syringe from Tractor Supply that fits perfectly. It is soooo much better. I know when it is filled, when I need to fill it, and I can tell how full it is so I don't get out of the house and realize it was almost empty.

This has me very curious. I may have to give that a shot. And the 12ml syringe tube was the right diameter for the tank?

Yes, it is the exact size for the DID clones.

Here is a pic from an old thread-

DiscoutVapres usually has the clear tubes for .99 each, but they are out of stock at the moment.

In fact I have been using these 12mm Ideal syringes for my DID clones - you can get about 3 out of each syringe. And if you don't like the lines and numbers, if you rub with some juice, you can remove them (it's a bit of work, but I've done it on all the ones I made). They can be a tight fit on the o-rings; but that's a good thing - I put them on without any o-rings and haven't had a single leak.

If you're still using the metal tank it is hard to tell if it's full or not when refilling because air will want to bubble out of the wick. What I did before I got my clear tank was to use a long syringe needle and suck up the juice that was in the tank to see what I had left and then add more to the syringe til I had about 2.5 ml then put in the tank.

this also gave me a chance to see what color my juice was because after a while, it can get "dirty" from the burnt juice going back into the tank. this could be what is also giving you that "burnt" flavor.

im using 400 mesh and 32 kanthal. im always getting a burnt taste.. whats up w that..?
You have a short.
With top cap off if your top coil wire or bottom coil when fired is turning orange its shorting and will give that taste .

When using new coil its good to not have any e-liquid in device and to test fire the coil at a low voltage and they should all glow evenly with the bottom most wire the last to start glowing. If only the top or bottom wire glows in this process you have to adjust the coils carefully as you can scrape the oxidation off the mesh under those wires.
After you have it set fill tank and afterwards none of those coils should glow .

Once in a while if coil is moves somehow just gently move the coil with your fingernail and fire it to get it to stop glowing otherwise you will get a burnt taste.
Also on the genesis the airhole should line up with the wick otherwise the taste wont be good.

Just my 2 cents; this happens to me from time to time. I just keep filling and after about a second the air bubble comes out the fill hole and you then should be able to fill her up. Yeah, some juice will come out at first, but it is not that much. Just keep filling. I use a 15ml bottle with a 14ga long blunt needle to fill.
