Dry hits killing the lungs

So, I recently talked myself into getting the aerotank turbo. Yeah, I know. I like to "cloud chase" on a stock coil tanks (not an rba, rda, nor rta).

Anyway... so I was initially using it on my innokin svd (only thing I had that could pump out the power needed) at 15 watts. We swapped the stock coils out for 2.0ohm (which would read at 1.0ohms) coils so the svd would fire. I was getting pretty dense vapor, decent flavor, and could almost chain vape.

Fast forward to today, I picked up the ipv 2 (50watt box mod) specifically for the turbo (and because I got an igo-w to try my hand at dripping & building coils). Now, in the owners manual for the turbo, it says recommended wattage 22-30. But i get a burnt, hot silica taste if I go up that high.

I've definitely primed the coils since it's been used previously; I've adjusted the airflow from almost closed to wide open draw; I've tried shorter draws and longer, steadier draws; I can't get a good vape after my first draw over 15 watts.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Btw, I'm using Natur e-liquid which is 90% or 100% vg; the battery is an efest 18650 35 amp brand new.
 
Dry hits literally may be killing your lungs... The heavy VG juice isn't wicking fast enough for that setup.
But it was wicking fast enough on the 15 watt svd last night? Either that or it wasn't being depleted as rapidly and therefore had some leftover juice carrying over into the next vape.

I don't really know, but I was hoping for a great vaping experience and I'm so not getting that. :(

Ignore the recommended wattage in the user manual, since you know it performs well at 15, maybe try starting at 15.5-16 and moving up one notch at a time. When it starts to taste burnt back down a notch or 2 until you find the spot that works for you.

Every combination of Person + liquid + topper = a totally different number. It requires experimentation to find what works for you. If it tastes burnt- back it down until it doesnt :)

I kinda feel like I wasted my $ on the ipv seeing as how it's not giving me anything different than what I was getting on my existing eqipment.

A battery is a battery, you may find using it at the max of 15 watts is satisfying and that exceeding 15 watts is crappy. For me personally, I never went over 9 watts with a purchased clearomizer. I use an RDA on a mech mod at low ohms, but for the most part found clearos are *not* built to perform at higher wattages.

If you want to utilize wattage over 15 you will probably find better results experimenting with RBA/RDA builds. Honestly though, the wattage you are able to enjoy is irrelevant, that you are able to enjoy something and be satisfied is all that matters! :D

Factory coils are so small they struggle to keep up with higher out puts. I'm impressed you got 15w to work ok. Usually 10-12w is the max and thats typically pushing it. It was kinda mentioned earlier those tiny wicks usually cant keep up and the higher VG usually slows things down too. So my 2 cents is keep it below 15w until you get into rebuilding. Also that igo-w needs bigger air holes before you crank the power up unless they've changed. Mine had smaller air holes than an evod tank and THAT will give you a fowl vape for sure on a high power setting.

I do plan on having my local B&M drill out the existing holes and add a few more, also.

The reason I wanted (thought I needed?) more power was because I was using essentially a quad coil clearo. It has 2 dual coil heads. Total of 4 coils.

I suppose that you have to look at the type of market that the aerotank turbo is aimed at - people that can't or don't want to learn how to recoil / re-wick but still want to play at cloud chasing. These sort of people would be using that tank of a lot more basic battery. I think that you would be a lot more satisfied if you got yourself a RBA / RDA and learnt the art of building them, you'd never go back to a factory built set-up and would have a huge amount of flexibility.

I wouldn't suggest running any store bought tank (clero, protank, etc) up over 15 watts - they just aren't meant to handle that kind of voltage/wattage.

We will soon see .5 ohm pre-build coils for these tank systems and will allow you to exploit higher wattage. Until then, enjoy the longer battery life at 15 watts.
