Just got the new istick tc 200w and getting dry hits in wattage mode at 100 watts. I'm using my crown with .25 coils. I know it's not the coil because I had it on my istick 100w and was vaping on it at 100 watts before switching it over to the istick 200w. I'm not completely ignorant about batteries but far from an expert on how they work in mods. Could it be just the difference in the extra battery causing the coil to heat up a lot faster? I would think if that was the case it would just be a hotter vape before getting a dry hit.

Extra info, I'm vaping on plume juice rain 80/20. Had the istick 100w and crown .25 set up 10 months and 95% of my vaping is at 100w ( best flavor setting for me). I got the 200w to try out the temp control but until I figure out the "dry hit issue" I'm afraid to try tc.

Only other change has been batteries. I'm running 25r in my istick 100w, while waiting for my 3 vtc4s to get here, I'm running 3 borrowed imren 3000mah max 40a in the 200w.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Different mods have different wattage (and even temp in temp mode) accuracy rates at different resistance levels. It could be your istick 100 has a lower actual wattage at 100 than the istick 200.

Assuming the istick 200 is a triple battery series mod you have plenty of room with 20A CDR batteries (60W per battery just on the safe side) vaping it at 100.

A few things you might consider.

VG PG ratio, are you vaping the same juice on both setups?

Not all prebuilt coils are rated the same, could be your current one just can't handle 100W.

And aforementioned different mods and wattage / temp accuracy.

I wondered if it might just be a variant of actual wattage on the different mods but I would still think it would just be a hotter vape. (The crowns .25 coils are rated up to 120 watts.)

I used the same tank on both, just took it off to 100w and put it on the 200w so exact same juice and coil.

I did try to bump the 200w down to 80 watt and 90 watt. No dry hit but not much flavor if any.

Actually not at all, don't mind it a little warm. But on my 100w mod with crowns .25 vape is pretty cool and great flavor at 100 watts. I only fire for 2.5-3 seconds though, if more than that it starts getting a little warm. Anything less than 80 watts and I get no flavor. Plus my taste buds or old and wore out. Never tried the .5 coils for it, fell to much in love with the .25 at first suck.

I wonder if the istick 200w is just better suited for tc and I should just skip the wattage mode and just dive in.?

Gotcha, I like to do about 5-6 sec draws when I vape or right when the vape gets borden line warm/hot. Hope u resolve your issue.

I would also recommend looking into rebuilding. Theres just so many options and builds for you to tinker with. Also you do save $$$ on coils.
