Dry hits on new Ce5 Clearomizer

So this last week, I decided I needed a new clearo, mine was toast and it had a long life (about 3 weeks for me), so I stopped by my usually little store where I buy my clearos, and grabbed a new one (Clayton elite ce5 wick-less, disposable). Nothing unusual. When I stopped to fill the clearo, everything seemed right, I filled it with my flavor of choice, primed it, and let it set a few minutes. This is where things got strange, when I hit the button and took a drag I got a dry hit! I had followed everything by the book and failed! Now I sit by myself with a dud of a clearo and no more cash 'till I get paid next week, and worse, no way to vape! What I really want to know is: what would cause a new clearo to not wick properly (note the word wick-less), and if this were to happen again, how can I remedy it? P.S. I'm broke and desperate till next week. :(

The new CE5s are a bottom dual coil design. I've never taken one apart, but I doubt "wickless" means they don't have a wick. I suspect it merely means it doesn't have the old style silica wicks drooping down to the bottom of the tank, to feed the old top coil design. As to why it might not work, you could have gotten a bad one. They're disposable, after all. Or maybe your juice is too thick to use the new style.

When you get paid, by all means drop by the shop and get another to keep you going-- if I still had any, I'd mail you one, but I gave them all away long ago-- but thereafter consider ordering online. They will be significantly cheaper than at your local shop, and usually come in 5 or 10 packs so you'll have some spares.

I didn't even know they still sold them.. I'd suggest a EVOD 2 or EVOD Glass. Comes with BDC's but you can buy VOCC's now for them. Or just get the old EVOD BCC and rewick them with cotton for better taste then silica, you can also dry burn them (after taking cotton out) to make them last twice as long. They are super ez to rebuild too if thats something you think you may get into. My old EVOD's are almost as good as my Sub Ohm $100 sub ohm device lol.

Your juice might be to thick for it. You might want to try to cover the air intake with your fingers and draw on it a few times. Not really hard, just enough to pull a vacuum and suck some liquid to the coil. Once you get a good hit you may have to redo this every hit or two. If you can't get a vacuum on it while on the battery, take it off and plug the bottom with your finger, then try to vacuum some liquid to the coil.

Sorry it took me a while to respond, I haven't been around my computer. I had tried all the usual things to get a clearo to wick, but all it did was flood and even gave me a mouthful of warm liquid and still tasted burned. I did find an old one I had left in a drawer and was able to play with it and make it work for the last few days. What i did to fix my problem is just buying a new one. What I might do is save a few dollars and buy the EVOD Glass mentioned above by gramdogg.

Glad I could help, another great glass BVC for mouth to lung is the Aspire K1 ($10). Alot of people say BVC's have better flavour but it's not really better just cleaner or more pure if that makes any sense. Personally I love the old EVOD coils, about $3.50 cheaper for a 5 pack here and like I said they last for ages. Just change the organic cotton instead of the whole coil. A $4 5 sheet pack can be split in half and cut into 1/3's each 1/3 makes like 20 wicks.... 600 wicks for $4! lol With loose cotton you can run 30pg/70vg easy too. I'm just to cheap to buy coils lol.

One of the nice things about the Evod Glass is that, although it comes with Kanger dual coils, it can and does work quite well with Kanger single coils, too. My daughter preferred the dual coils, whereas I preferred the single coils. We were using them with Kanger 650 mah batteries, and they worked well with anything from 50/50 pg/vg to 30pg/70vg. Before we both invested in Nautilus Minis, my daughter was using her Evod Glass on Kanger 650 mah batteries or an Innokin VV v3 battery, and I was using mine on Kanger 650 mah batteries or an Innokin CoolFire IV. Try FastTech for very reasonable pricing on Evod Glass. It takes a while to get to the US from China, but the prices are good, and if the listing says it is authentic, it is.

Yeah, I am glad to hear what you have to say. You're very helpful. I will see if I can find an EVOD or BVC or the like at the vape shop downtown. I never really go in there because I usually pick up what I need at the convenience store I walk by everyday, and I never have money free to spend.
Yeah if $ is an issue you want EVOD BCC single coil so you can dry burn and rewick with organic cotton. Take the cotton out before dry burning. check youtube for reference videos. EVOD is $5, 5 coils $6.50 and pack of cotton $4... that should last for months maybe even a year depending how you vape.

Just a note he is referring to single coil BVC not the BCC I was talking about to save you $. BVC's are great but $10 for 5 coils that you will throw away compared to $10.50 for 5 and a pack of cotton that will last for ages. If you want glass and BCC look for the ProTank 1 or Davide both about $15 and use the same coil as the EVOD BCC.

Basically EVOD Glass or Aspire K1 if you want BVC's. EVOD BCC if you want to save a ton of $ on coils like me. You CAN clean the BVC's cotton to make them last longer but you can't dry burn the old burnt juice off the coil so eventually it will taste bad no matter what. Some suggest soaking and shaking them in vodka but again that's more $.

I soak mine in vodka for 12 hours then 12 hours in water and in 2 months of vaping have only tossed 1 just make sure if you use the occ ones don't burn the cotton.
