Hi all

ok so i was doing a genesis build yesterday and was having probs with the top coil burning after the liquid was added. This resulted in 3 shorts. I finally started from scratch and built a successful one later.

Fast forward 24 hours and now its happening again?!?!?

ive been vaping the coil about 5 hours yesterday evening and about 2 hours this afternoon with no probs and all of a sudden im getting dry burnt hits. After looking at the coil im seeing the top coil glowing red when i fire up my mech mod. I cant for the life of me think what the problem is. Can anyone help?

ive got a hollow mesh wick with 32 gage wire

If the top positive terminal connection is good . . . Is the top portion of your wick uniform in shape affording good contact with the coil?

WELL....i just unscrewed after reading your post and saw a tiny bit of coil still under the screw and washer! Must have been from my previous attempts yesterday however for some reason this hasnt effected anything until now. I removed it and re tightened. All 'seemed' well but the prob is now back but this time defo nithing under the top or bottom screws.

Could it be anything else?

genysis mesh wicks are real tedious to get the hot spots from occuring on the coil. You need to pulse the power button and see where the coil is getting red before the rest of the coil. Take a toothpick or something pointy and small and work the coil untill it glows evenly along the coil. Pretty much trying to "insulate" the coil from the wick but have enuf contact to vaporize the juice. its a very fine balance point of contact and shorting.....

Have you tried fiddling with just the very top coil? Try moving the said up or down just a tiny bit?

Yep tried that too but no joy. I'll attach a pic so you can see the set up. By the looks of it the very tip of the mesh seems to be dry. Not sure what that means??

This is my first hollow wick and tbh im still experimenting so may have to go back to solid wicks.

It's a pretty coil but it seems a little too tight )

Ive had a few more attempts and the last one resulted in the button getting hot?!?! This has never happened before needless to say it shorted.

This time i tried it exactly like scott ( the igetcha guy) has done it in a YouTube vid - mesh measuring 30mm by 20mm and deoxidising it for 10 secs but still no joy.

Thx jml_nice ill try again with a looser coil. If this doesnt work im going to try another material other than mesh. I know coil building is a learning curve but geez how dumb can one person really be! (To answer my own question you ain't seen nothing yet...)
