Hey guys I've noticed a problem after vaping for about 1 year. I like to take long drags but dry hits are holding me back. Even with a freshly juiced wick I'm getting a dry hit after about 4-5 seconds. I'm not even vaping at that high of a wattage (60 watts). This occurs on both my Tsunami 24 and my Griffin 25. I'm running dual 24 gauge kanthal with 6 wraps coming out to .31 ohms on both rigs. For the wick I'm using cotton bacon (getting organic cotton in the mail soon) and using just enough wick so there is just enough snug, I don't think I'm choking my wick.

My batteries are safe to go up to about 100watts so I'd like to get a warmer cloudier vape. I see people vaping higher wattages no problem. What am I doing wrong? :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Again, I'm using:
60 Watts
Dual Coil
24 Gauge Kanthal
6 Wraps
.31 Ohms
Cotton Bacon

What kind of atty are you using? Might help if you could put some wicking material at the bottom of the chamber. I don't know 60 W seems pretty high to me, try lowering it as it may be to hot for your juice.

Can you adjust or open up the airflow?

If none of these suggestions work, only alternative would be to adjust your vaping habits and take shorter drags, or long gentle drags.

I mostly use Geek Vape's Tsunami 24 and Griffin 25. A lot of my juice taste better going higher than 60 would it still be burning it? Yes you can adjust the airflow on both.

Adding more mass seemed to help a bit I'll try adding more to see what happens.

Thanks guys!
Glad your seeing some progress. I'm a tuttle puffer and usually don't go over 40W.

Welcome and glad you joined. Could try rayon wicks and make them as large as you can in order to transfer as much juice at, or near, your present settings.
re: Rayon wick, better flow, flavor, saturation and Nic Hit!

doesn't the Griffin have the holes where you drop the wick into the tank? Any attys I've used like that benefit from a little less wick in the holes so you don't seal up the wick hole. My experience is limited to the Origenny V2 but the concept is the same. Leave a little room for air around the wick.

Tsunami is a dripper, right? Dry hits on a dripper are easy....hot leg or add more juice.

Had a discussion similar with a friend not long ago.
Try slightly spacing your coils versus contact. It worked for him.
Closest we could figure the cotton at the center of the coil was vaporizing the juice before the outer edges and was going dry.
After several hours if we pulled his wick it was darker in the center is what led us there.
Could have been our imagination.

Anyway just thinking outside the box

In the Griffin, it's quite possible you stuffed too much wick in there and it's blocked up the juice channels. Now, many will disagree with me here: I also use a Tsunami, and my dry hits went away (I used to use wrapped plain jane SS coils in it) after I switched to fused and alien claptons, and changed my wicking material to organic Japanese cotton. Maybe it was the way I was stuffing the coils with cotton blocking up wicking (though I still do with Muji and KohGenDo) I think it has more to do with all the nooks and crannies in claptons that allow juice to really get pulled in to the cotton and the coils themselves.

When you get your new cotton, give it a whirl with the coils you already have in there. I wasn't crazy about Cotton Bacon from the get go, as I noticed it sometimes just didn't wick right or me. There are others that will swear by the stu...guess it's really a subjective thing that boils down to personal preference.

I get dry hits constantly means my coils are burned out. Had it happen today. Wicked it 3 times and dry hits so I put in a new coil and all is well. Sometimes I can dry burn them 10 or 15 times and other times it is 5 or 6. Just an idea for you but this is my experience. CHEERS!

You might try some rayon. It sound to me like you have wick troubles. Possibly you are overstuffing the coils. Cotton-- particularly Cotton Bacon, in my experience-- will "choke" and refuse to transport juice if it is pulled too tightly in the coils. I recommend rayon as it seems less susceptible to this. Both your Tsunami (if full) and your Griffin should offer superior juice flow capacity, especially at 60 watts.
