Surprisingly to me, this Health forum isn't very active.. Hence the lack of responses so far...

That said, I've found that PG dehydrates me much more than VG does..

My throat is also a wee bit PG-sensitive

I also don't like the performance of the thinner PG..

So, I'm a 90-100% VG vaper

You should make sure you're drinking enough water whenever vaping, no matter the PG/VG content

I figured it was the pg. I recently switched to 0mg, which is heavy in pg. And at night my mouth is so dry that my teeth are sticking to my lips, also my lips are peeling and raw. I love the flavor of what I vape, so hate to change suppliers, but may have to if I can't get rid of the problems.
Been drinking more water for the past few months as well.

In my experience, PG it more than VG does. I have problems with too high a percentage of VG because it makes my chest feel heavy due to the larger molecules and thicker vapor it produces. I started adding a bit of distilled water (you can go up to 30% but I usally do 10 or 20%) to thin the thickness of my VG when DIYing. I discovered a bonus. It not only decreased that chest heaviness without having to add PG but, wonder of wonders, it helped with the dry mouth. If you've already got some juices that's at least 50%VG and don't mind cutting the nic strength a bit, just add a couple of drops of distilled water right to your clearo.

Any reason it has to be distilled? I do buy bottle water to drink, but not distilled.

PG is almost certainly the culprit. Happens to me if I go even as much as 10% PG in a juice, including flavor, which is mostly PG. Sounds like you are fairly sensitive to it. I would vape, at least at first, unflavored VG-nic. I use 20% water in mine. My guess is symptoms will reduce or leave entirely. If this is your case, try some flavors but at 10% or less in a juice. Not sure if you DIY, but PG symptoms were some of the reason I started DIY...I wanted to know exactly what was in the juice. If you do not DIY, you might be able to find a vendor that will sell low-flavored juices to you.

I either vape unflavored VG-nic, or else flavors at 5% or less, mostly less these days.

Good luck! And tell how it goes!

I am just now starting to mix some of my own. I don't care about nic, and I am using pure peppermint oil for the flavor, and glycerine. Its just a bit too thick, so will try a bit of distilled water to thin it down.

I would try about 20% water. Not sure if the peppermint will stay in solution, but if it separates, you might try a few drops of PGA or vodka, while lowering the water % a bit. With pure mint oil, I am guessing a few drops per 30 mL of juice is probably plenty. I made the mistake of making a 10% peppermint juice with pure oil back when I first tried DIY. Like being stabbed in the head by the Altoid Monster!

So a week into pure vg and peppermint oil, with a bit of distilled water. And honestly I am having an even dryer mouth than before. So is it not pg that is the culprit. Could it really be the mint. I hope not, because without the mint, I just can't vape. Argh. How I wish science would quit trying to prove how bad vaping is and start actually trying to figure out how to make it better.

Propylene Glycol (PG) is a dessicant. It dries you up. Switch to Vegetable Glycerine and you should have no issues. Worked for me. I find that if I mix my flavors and then fill up the rest of the % with vegetable glycerin, I don't have the issues I had before (bleeding gums in the AM, etc).

The wife uses 70/30 PG/VG. I use 50/50 upto 100% VG & don't have any problems. Actually I get a wet mouth on 100% VG. The wife hasn't said anything about dry mouth, but I have noticed that when I use a high PG y mouth gets a little dry, but not bad. The wfie uses her blend becasue the locl B&M she gets juice form has only a 70/30 blend.
We have also dropped the nicotine from 12 to 10 mg. That might have something to do with it.
Just my 2 cents.
