I've googled this a bit, haven't found much on the forum, i find my mouth gets extremely dry when vaping, Mind you i just started last night. Plus the flavour of my vapes dont' taste as great as I hoped it would, could any of these issues do with my cartomizer, i ordered a couple of bottles from vapables with a vg base, the liquid i'm currently using is from northern vapor (so it might not be the best)

forgot to mention i get a weird after taste, kinda smokey, didn't think vaping would have that

ps: I have already ordered 2 sets of boge cartomizers from happyvaper,

hotone is correct, gnelkos. You see, both PG and VG are humectants. What that means is that they both attract moisture. Which means that if you're vaping heavily, it's a good idea to try & remember to drink a glass of water a bit more often than you would. A nice cold glass of water on hand, & you'll stay both hydrated & happily vaping. Milk is good too, though water is best for hydration. Remembering to eat is also good, since eating increases salivation (& keeps you alive, lol).

As to taste in juices...there's a world of difference out there. All kinds of flavours...some are weak, some are strong, some leave a strong aftertaste, some leave none. I doubt your cartomizer is to blame (assuming you're using a Boge already).

Unless you'd tried vaping with a cartomizer that wasn't wet enough...but I don't think that's the case. Because if that had happened, you'd have immediately noticed a strong, nasty burnt-smoke taste & went "ugh" & you would've needed to get a new carto. Good tip to remember for future: when filling, better to make your Boge 510 cartomizer too wet than too dry. Wet carto = vaping goodness.

[EDIT: Ahhh I see, you were using a different kind. Yes...Joye makes excellent batteries, but lousy cartomizers & only so-so atomizers. I agree with Tim - definitely get the Boge 510 cartomizers from now on.]

I used to have dry and sore mouth as well...only for like the first month or two...now that i'm 6 months into it, that dosn't happen to me anymore. Also i do remember getting a wierd sort of taste in my mouth for a while...that went away as well. I guess my body was just getting used to it. that or it was a reaction to quitting smoking. Who knows...
P.S. If you guys haven't already tried the new cartos from electrovapors...i suggest you do so. way better than boges...not sure who makes them but they're 1.8ohm LR510 and they have a gloss black finish. Not a sticker like boges. not that that makes much of a difference other than looks but the functionality is the best i've seen in a carto thus far.

is it weird to get more throat hit with a cartomizer compared to direct drip?

I was having the same experience, almost too much TH with the cartos and very weak dripping, but I was really struggling with consistant results dripping. Now that I have gotten the hang of it again, or maybe because my cartos are starting to get old, dripping definately packs more of a punch and more flavor.

How does the lifespan of these compare to the boge's?

To lelly & DemonCleaner: the 1.8 ohms cartomizers you're referring to are low-resistance cartomizers made by Bauway.

Electro Vapors - 510 Cartomizers Low Resistance (1.8 ohms)

Bear in mind, LR cartomizers will go through e-juice faster than standard cartos (sometimes a lot faster), because a LR cartomizer runs hotter than a standard one. With LR, you'll also be taking shorter draws on your cartomizer because it will produce warmer, hotter vapour. Something to consider if you enjoy long, luxurious drags. LR cartos (like LR attys) will also not last as long as standard cartos or attys. They run hotter, which means they wear out faster.

The upside is that LR cartos are said to produce more flavourful vapour. Nothing wrong with that. Though as someone who's vaped exclusively with standard 510 cartomizers from Boge...I'm already getting great, flavourful vapour that's very warm.

Only trying one out to see the difference will really let you know which you prefer. Though one should also note that while some folks have had no issues at all & enjoy these Bauway LR cartomizers...some folks have had serious problems with them:

My advice is don't try these if you only have 1 good battery on hand. Make sure you have a backup battery, just in case. Personally I'm sticking with the standard Boge cartos...and if I do try LR, it'll be the Boge LR cartos that I try first (once Jack stocks them...no way am I ordering anything directly from China, after the b.s. that poor FarmYard was given by Customs just the other day over his order of empty cartos).

Happy vaping!
