I'm having the same issue. I've been vaping for 3 weeks, mainly using cartomizers. Always had a slightly dry throat. Over the weekend I came down with a cold and a sore throat, and with this cold vaping is absolute murder. Much more painful than smoking with a sore throat ever was. But, just like I would continue to smoke with a sore throat, I am continuing to vape with one... Hopefully it passes soon.

Vaping is dehydrating - drink plenty of fluids.

Nicotine in 100% PG can be irritating - use juices with some VG in them (I recommend 10-20% VG for stuffing cartos, 10-30% for tanks and reservoir cartos, 20-50% for normal atomizers.

This is Very good advise. 100% PG can be irritating and also causes the Maximum Dehydration.

Worth a try, what setups are you using?

I purchased a bottle of VG over the weekend, and I have been mixing it with a bottle of high nic tobacco juice that I got at my local tobacco shop. Also I have been taking the juice from the cartridges of a Smoking Everywhere setup and mixing that with the VG I purchased. Yesterday I bought a DIY ejuice kit, so I can make my own juice.

I am starting again today, with my own DIY (thank you One Stop DIY Shop), which I think is pretty much 100% VG, I am not sure if the flavors I have a VG or PG but if it has PG it should be really small amount.

I am now curious what the PG does, because I get a really good vapor with just the VG. I mean is there any reason to try to add more PG later? What are the benefits of PG?

Thank you,

You need to experiment because it's individual. When I have too high VG, I get more of a heavy feeling in my chest and a dry throat. (Accidently ordered my juice in 80vg/20pg instead of the reverse). I find I vape more with high VG so that could contribute to the dry throat for me. Plus it clogs your cartos.

Dry throat is common when you start vaping for everyone I think regardless. Just drink more water or have a tic-tac.

I'm with you on this.. sort of. Too much PG and I get a sore throat. Too much VG and my throat is thick with mucus. I'm finding that a nice blend 60/40 or 50/50 is working well for me.
