Ok, in the interest of saving someone the angst of what I am going through now with a recently aquired Saber Touch VV off of the classified section, can we collectively determine what VV's the new Dual Coil Carto's (in the 1.5-1.8ohm range) will/will not work on properly? By properly I mean what you set the volatage at is close to what the VV delivers under load all the way up to let's say 5-6v. The Saber Touch will fire a DC, but only up to a loaded voltage of 3.6-3.7v regardless of the unloaded voltage setting. If I set it at 4.2v, it delivers a loaded voltage of 3.6. If I set it at 6v, loaded it's 3.6v.

I have a Terminator VV adapter that will fire a DC correctly.

To determine if your mod is running the new dual coils properly, you would need a tester such as this Assembled Volt Indicator which measures unloaded and loaded voltage.

So far, from gleening the forum and my own experiece, the following WILL fire a DC correctly (up to 5-6v loaded):

The Buzz - max 4.5v to 5.4v under load depending on DC resistance
Terminator Adapter - up to 6v under load
Darwin - up to 5v under load

So far, from gleening the forum and my own experiece, the following WILL NOT fire a DC correctly:

Saber Touch VV-max loaded voltage 3.6-3.8v
ProVari - reports up to 4.2v other reports of error code..no fire
Vaporlux - reports of no fire

Has anyone used the newest 2ohm dual coils sucessfully on a VV mod that won't fire the lower ohm versions properly?

Any mods to add to the above catagories or experience with the new 2ohm DC's?

doots,

I'm not seeing higher ohm versions on the Mad Vapes site. Nhaler looks like the have the metal jacket version up to 2ohm.

Have you personally used these new higher ohm DC's sucessfully on a VV? If so, which one?

Please don't take my question to be snide. I just want personal experiences and verified load tests so I and others can avoid the $100 plus cost experience I am going through now.

No Rock
I havent used any of the higher ohm cartos yet on my Provari.
Have some coming from Nhaler. They offer ohms in
Available in 1.5, 2.0, or 2.5 Ohm
I ordered the 2.5's to see how they perform on Pro vari.
Will let every one know..
Madvapes seems that they only have SmokeTech in 5 ohm but they arent the DCs.

According to buzzkill, the buzz will run them fine at HV and the infinity will not.
The Provari can't handle them past 4.5 volts if you're lucky and 3.6v if you're not.
The Darwin will go as far as 5.0v.
The vaporlux can't handle them.
The VV Sabertouch - well, one person said it works fine to 4.5v and one person said they wouldn't fire at all (don't know what to believe). The OP says 3.6v.
The VV Copper will go to 5.0v with the DCs

The 2.0 and 2.5 ohm DCs do leave a little more room for the VVs but that just plain makes them not as nice. Why they are so good happens to be their ability at low ohms to handle HV without burning or shorting.

Edit: Also, the OP said the terminator will fire the DCs to 6.0v. According to buzzkill (no longer selling that product, but used to sell it), it won't. So, that one might still be a question mark?

This thread might interest the OP and others

My personal experience is limited to the 1.5 ohm dual coils---haven't tried the higher-ohm versions yet.

With my VV family from Ken's Box Mods, the dual coils work great at any voltage from the 3s to the 6s with my version 1 Little Sister and Big Brother (with linear regulators), but not at all on my V2 Big Brother (with a vari-cool switching regulator). They also work beautifully on my Big Splash metered VV (by Shan B.) and my Madvapes VV boxes (all of which use older-style and simpler linear regulators).

I could be wrong about this, but it seems to me that the dual coils don't work mainly on VV boards with current limiters built into the software chips.

That's strange. I have been using them on my infinity but I had to use a 510 to 510 adaptor to get them to work. They work great but I mostly stayed below 5. I'll have to try them highter to see...

I'm going to guess your 510/510 is adding resistance. If you follow the second link I provided, you'll find the thread where Buzzkill says the DCs are a no go for the infinity.

Darwin:
Got a 2 ohm clear from Nhaler (and more on the way).
It meters at 1.9 ohms full of 50/50/24mg Desert Light by Honeyville Vapes

Lowest it will go is 3.7v and pulls close to 2 amps.
Highest it will go is 5v, and pulls around 3 amps.

Later I tried a different juice, an 90/10/12 menthol from Tasty Vapor...
The ohm rating has now dropped to 1.4 on this same carto, and this is after running several fills of the 50/50 juice.
I did not clean it or anything..I just pushed the new menthol in on top of the other liquid (wasn't much left).
The lowest it goes 3.7v
The highest is 4.2v

It's an excellent quality vape across the board with these two juices.

I tried the DC at 4.6 on the buzz. It only took around 30 minutes for it to cut out. Just now I placed an 510 extension and the DC at 4.26 and it working nice. I won't go any higher. The DC work nice on my ego batts as well. For some strange reason the DC don't fit well directly on the buzz threading...that is why I am using the extension. YMMV
