You may want to just get an rba. The wick in the Protank really isn't big enough for doing sub-ohm to keep up wicking wise. The tiny space would be difficult for dual-coil. I would suggest looking at a micro coil in it.

I plan on getting an IGO-L this week. I posted this topic to see if I don't really need to get one in order to venture into this territory. In my protank setup I use a 3mm wick, and was hoping it would be enough.

Nacon I was referring to the actual length of the wick, it is so short that a decent pull on a sub-ohm coil would end up drying it (without sufficient wicking) and give burnt/nasty hits. The IGO-L seems like a better option for sub-ohm (not speaking from experience just what I've read) and just rebuild the Protank heads using a "normal" resistance. Or as I mentioned look at running a micro-coil in the Protank, I set one up in an old head I had and used cotton, didn't like the cottony taste, but it worked great and the un-cottony hits were fantastic.

I've decided I'm a cartotank guy, wish I hadn't just recently picked up a Protank 2 but it'll give me something to mess around with. Along with the AGA-T+ collecting dust :p

Feel nfree to mail me any rebuildable that you don't want.

1. You can do subohm on a protank (mild subohm).

2. You probably can't do dual coil on a protank.

3. You don't need to go subohm on a protank to improve it significantly. Out of the box they will not support 15 watts, you have to rebuild/mod to get it there.
I use dual micro coils on a protank exclusively. In my opinion it is the best vape possible from a protank rebuild. I've built up to triple micro coils in the atomizer but its too much of a pain to rewick them. Check this link and photos. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...al-micro-coils-tripple-coils-protank-2-a.html
I also vape sub ohm .7 on the protank regularly. 28g 11 micro coil wraps on 18 ga needle. I like the crackle vape with this one but the flavor and TH is the best with a dual micro coil and Cotton by far.

I know this is an old thread but since i just made a video on this as an expirement, i figured i would post my results here. The main reason sub ohm does not vape well on the protank is because the wick (using cotton, i would never dare use silica for a subohm protank) cannot wick as well as an actual rba. Flybykite, your example seems very interesting, i will have to try it out. I am not saying sub ohm is neccessarily "bad" on the protank, but it is better with an rba. In this video i did a high .8 ohm single coil.
Nothing melts in the protank btw, i dont know who it is saying they have melting issues but i have never ever experienced it.
